Participating in the Career Pathways program
at your high school is an excellent way to learn
about the career you are interested in while
earning free college credit. Once you successfully
complete the program, you will save time and
money when you enroll at Seminole State to
further your education in the field of your choice.
Seminole County Public Schools is committed to providing

What is Career Pathways?
Career Pathways, a cooperative effort between
Seminole County Public Schools and Seminole
State College, allows students to prepare for
college and a career.
The pathways are available in more than a dozen
high school disciplines and are tied to career
programs at Seminole State. Depending on the
specific career path, students can earn up to 12
college credits for high school work, a savings
of up to $1,200.

Earn free college credit for your high school successes!
Career Pathways
Many Career Pathways
programs prepare students
specifically for the
Bright Futures Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award.
Explore career interests by taking a
sequence of Career and Technical Education
courses in high school.
Complete the required sequence of high
school courses with a “B” average.
Pass an assessment based on your
selected career pathway. Tests are usually
administered in April or May of each year.
Graduate from high school.
Enroll in Seminole State and complete
at least one college-credit course. Dual
enrollment credits do not qualify. (Career
Pathways credits may be applied up to 24
months after high school graduation.)
Complete and submit a form to have the
credits posted on your transcript.

The Advantages
Participating in Career Pathways offers:
Free college credits.
At Seminole State, you don’t have to pay for credits
that you earn through Career Pathways, a savings of
up to $1,200, depending on the career pathway.
Eligibility for a Bright Futures Scholarship.
Career Pathways credits taken in the appropriate
sequence help students satisfy requirements for the
Bright Futures Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award.

College credit transferability.
In many Associate in Science degrees and college
credit certificates, your Career Pathways credits
may serve as part of the program requirements or
as elective credits. If you earn an Associate in Arts
transfer degree, your credits may serve as an elective
toward your A.A. degree.
Career Pathways can help you choose a productive,
well-paid field and give you a head start on earning
credits toward your degree or certificate.
