What Is God Like?
Luke 15.11-25
In this parable, we see ...
… a father who is powerful .
He is wealthy and influential .
He is neither old , nor weak .
He is not hard of hearing .
He is not dead .
… a father who is willing to let go .
God did not create us to be robots .
God created us in His own image .
… a father who is filled to overflowing with love .
God’s love has no limits .
God’s love is patient .
God’s love is eager .
God’s love focuses on the sinner , not the sin .
God’s love is a joyful love.
… a father of total forgiveness .
The father welcomed him back - unconditionally !
He wipes the slate clean .
… a father who welcomes us home!
He restores the prodigal back to the family.
This is the nature of God - the God you worship .
What about us?
The Father, still today, watches and waits .
The weary are welcomed home!
Why not come home?
