What is Materials Science?
• Almost everything around you is made of different materials.
• Materials scientists investigate how materials are made, figure out how they can be changed and improved, and engineer entirely new materials.
Why Stuff?
Materials are the basis of our civilization—the Stone, Bronze, and Iron Ages—and materials will take us into the future.
Television Series
Making Stuff is a four-part prime-time television series on materials science from PBS and the award-
winning producers of NOVA in partnership with the Materials
Research Society (MRS)
Premieres January 19, 2011, at 9 P.M. (EST) and continues each Wednesday through
