What is Praxis?

PRAXIS is a non-governmental and non-profitmaking cultural organisation in Serres.

It was founded in 1995 in order to offer a broad spectrum of cultural activities to the town youth and involve them in cultural issues. Most of the people working for PRAXIS do it voluntarily.

PRAXIS has its main office with the radio station in the centre of Serres In the town live about 80 000 inhabitants. Because of the Technological Education Institute there is a high number of students living in Serres.

International ActivitiesACTION 1

Praxis is one of the most active organisations in Greece. A lot of youngsters participate in several youth exchanges in European and Mediterranean countries

•Praxis focuses its activities on the EVS program, acting as a hosting and sending organisation

•Praxis co-ordinates EVS projects in other cities of North Greece

•Praxis organized two times with success “on arrival training” for all hosting volunteers in North Greece

•Hosting: PRAXIS hosts volunteers from other countries who contribute in the making of the "Mediart" newspaper and create cd-rom and website in the computer laboratory

There are 4 eligible positions for EVS every six months

•Sending: We are looking for partners to host our volunteers for EVS

PRAXIS is the biggest sending organization in Greece. From 1998 has sent hundreds of volunteers abroad

• PRAXIS support a lot of EVS volunteers to run their Future Capital

• PRAXIS under this action run the project “Internet and severalty”. At the computer lab of PRAXIS children with special need learn computers by PRAXIS staff (PC teachers, psychologists, sociologists) .

PRAXIS participate in several seminars. Members of our organization participate as trainers and as participants in several seminars in European and Mediterranean countries
