A NIGHT TO REMEMBER Just before midnight on April 14,1912, one of the most famous

ocean disasters occurred, the sinking of the titanic. The titanic was the fanciest ship at the time, with its beautiful rooms, glittering crystal chandeliers, and delicious food. In addition, it was supposed to be the safest ocean liner ever built. The hull was divided into sixteen supposedly watertight compartments could be flooded without threatening the ships ability to float. That April, the majestic ocean liner was on its first voyage, traveling from Southampton ,England, to New York City. On the evening of April 14, the ship was sailing 95 miles south of Newfoundland when it collided with a gigantic iceberg .The ship sank because the iceberg tore five of the sixteen watertight compartments. The “unsinkable” Titanic vanished under the water at 2:20 A.M. , April 15. There were about 2,200 passengers aboard, and all but 678 died. The tragedy was made even worse by the crew’s useless rescue attempts. Since there weren’t enough lifeboats, the crew’s efforts to save people failed.

Going to the movies with the children nowadays is no longer the wholesome family treat it used to be. It seems that there is always some violence and sex even in comedies to the movies for general patronage so parents are never sure if they can take their children to the movies with them. On the few occasions that a movie really is for children, previews of forthcoming films are exhibited including scenes of brutal crimes or explicit sex. Comedies once fun-filled and witty have now been replaced by tasteless, ribald, or toilet humor. Today’s entertainment is no longer fun.
