What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?By Rosie BetteridgeParamountWhen I researched into films that are similar to my film Violet Deceit which is a psychological thriller, I came across the film The Lovely Bones. This consisted of similar conventions such as dreamscape. Due to this I looked into the company that distributed it, Paramount. Paramount have distributed various successful films series; Transformers, Paranormal Activity, Friday the 13th and Jack Ryan. The film Jack Ryan also hold similar conventions to Violet Deceit because it comes from the genre Thriller.This would be an ideal company to distribute my film, due to them distributing similar films they would know how to reach the target audience. Furthermore, because of their large budget and popularity it would make the film stand out from other newly released films.Due to Paramount being a vertically integrated company they own multiple cinemas that they could exhibit the film to. This would then increase the popularity of the film further, allowing more of the target audience to become aware of the film. Therefore, the parent company will receive more profit than an independent company would.Major film company Walt Disney picturesA company that wouldnt be usual for the distribution of Violet Deceit is Walt Disney Pictures. This is due to the target audience being children and young adults. The content within my film would not be suitable for them because of the psychological issues that are aimed towards older people.Films released by Walt Disney Pictures consist of Alice in Wonderland, Frozen, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Chronicles of Narnia and so on.We would also be unable to reach our target audience because all of these films are either the genre of action or adventure. This does not fit the genre of Violet Deceit, the audience that watch films from Walt Disney Pictures will be looking for a film in the genre of action or adventure.
