MFL top tips

• 1) Little and often. Revise at least 10 new words per day in preparation for the reading and listening exams but don't try and learn them all at once. Start with one or two then only move on as you feel confident. Use highlighters to indicate where you're at with the word e.g. green=confident, yellow=ok and red=still need to revise.

2) Linking words to images/silly ideas. It's a known fact that by linking a word to a silly image or another word helps you memorise it so find an English word that links to the French/Spanish word. Building the mental image is a vital step in helping you remember and understand the word e.g. the Spanish for "ice" is hielo (m), which sounds like yellow. To remember this word imagine yellow ice.
