Essential: Backpack Sleeping bag Sleeping pad Hiking shoes (broken in) Wool socks Pant and shirt (not cotton) Thin, insulated jacket Rain jacket 2-32 oz. water bottles Small, light bible Optional: Trekking poles Headlamp or small flashlight Long sleeve fleece Pair of sandals (if hiking in boots) Deodorant Toothbrush and toothpaste Make-up Perfume/cologne All electronics (cell phone, ipod, etc.) Food Cookware Shelters You will be going on a 5 day, 4 night backpack trip in the Beartooth Mountains. This will stretch you physically and emotionally. It will not be easy! Our desire is that through this opportunity you will be challenged to grow spiritually as you are away from the normal distractions of life. The cost for this trip will be determined as we know how many are going. Your cost will cover your food, transportation and specialized safety equip- ment for the trip (GPS and Satellite phone). You will leave Thursday, August 8 and return Mon- day, August 12. The group will meet Wednesday night, August 7, to get the gear packed properly for the trip. In order to plan and prepare for this trip, we need you to sign-up by July 15 and pay a deposit of $100. All Students attending will need to fill out the re- lease form and student covenant attached to this brochure. Students will also need a copy of a family insurance card on file with Pastor Jesse. If a stu- dent has any special medical conditions, these should be communicated on the medical release form. Mitch will contact you for further clarifica- tion of these medical conditions. If you have any questions, please contact Mitch Wardell at 697-8170 or Pastor Jesse at 696-5172. Guidelines Because of the dangers associated with traveling and the need for cooperation in a large group setting I un- derstand that I need to be responsible on this trip and follow these guidelines. GUIDELINES 1. I understand that I will be expected to keep the youth leaders informed of my whereabouts at all times and leaving the group or retreat area without a leader or leader's permission is dangerous and not permissi- ble. 2. I understand that I will NOT show any PDA (public display of affection) with members of the op- posite sex if I'm not married. 3. I understand the need for separate sleeping arrange- ments and I will honor this. 4. I understand that I am not allowed to POSSESS or USE tobacco, alcohol or any other type of illegal drugs. 5. I understand that I am not allowed to POSSESS or USE firearms, knives or fireworks on this trip. CONSEQUENCES Guidelines 1-2 These actions will be confronted once and I will be spending every waking moment with a youth leader if they are repeated. Guidelines 3-5 These actions will result in my being sent home. TRAVELING ETIQUETTE This trip is a ministry trip and it’s intended to build- up and encourage all who go. No cruel talk, back- stabbing or mean teasing will be tolerated. It is understood that this release will only be valid dur-

ing this specific trip. It is also understood that any

medical expenses will be paid by the parental/guardian

or their insurance company. “So that proper emer-

gency assistance may be provided, I hereby authorize Grace Bible Church and its youth staff chaperones in

charge of my child named below to obtain all neces-sary medical care for my child, and I hereby authorize

any licensed physician and/or medical personnel to

render necessary medical treatment to my child. Hav-ing been made aware of the activities the registrant

will be doing, I hereby consent to the registrant’s par-

ticipation in this retreat. I voluntarily release and for-

ever discharge Grace Bible Church from any and all

liability, claims, actions or rights of action which are any way related to the registrant’s participation in the

retreat activities. I agree to indemnify and hold Grace

Bible Church harmless from any and all cost or dam-ages, including attorney fees, incurred in connection

with the registrant’s participation in retreat activities. I further agree not to sue, assert or otherwise maintain

any claims or causes of action against Grace Bible

Church arising from the registrant's participation in

retreat activities. I agree to submit any such claims or

causes to a Christian conciliation/mediation organiza-

tion for binding resolution.”
