7. Skyrail to a Village in the Rainforest - A short trip out of Cairns and you can get a cable car to Kuranda village in the treetops. Kuranda has an amazing butterfly sanctuary along with local markets to shop til you drop. You can then get a scenic railway back towards Cairns.

8. Swim in fine architecture - confused? Don't be. There is a 4,800 square metre salt water lagoon right on the promenade in Cairns. This is a must on a hot summer's day.
