Cairns is unashamedly a tourist hotspot on a global scale. Here's a list of 8 of the most popular things to in Cairns.

1. Go scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef - this has to be the number one thing you can do in Cairns as it is one of the top 5 dive sites in the world. There are several different tour operators based on the wharf going out to the reef each day. This is a great place to get your diving certificates. If you don't have time to do your PADI then you can get an introductory dive on many of the tours.

2. Snorkeling - if you don't want to do diving then don't fear there are some amazing reefs that are fairly shallow. Many of the companies cater for snorkeling trips and you can pick the size of your group.
