Respect Responsibility Resilience Reconciliation

What we have been doing in Rooms 12 and 16.

This semester in Rooms 12 and 16 we have been working very

hard learning about the new robotics we received late in 2016. We have

started our robotic journey this year learning how to code/program the Bee-Bots and

Code-a-pillars. The Bee-Bot is an exciting new robot, it is easy-to-operate, and has been

a perfect tool for teaching sequencing, estimation, problem-solving and mapping skills.

The Code-a-pillar inspires our students to be big thinkers by encouraging them to

arrange (and rearrange) the segments. This learning robot encourages experimentation

while developing important skills like problem solving, planning & sequencing and

critical thinking. As you can see we have been very busy

Primary School

Dear the Endeavour Schools community,

It is pleasing to see a high number of our students working on their skipping skills during recess and lunch times in preparation for the Jump Rope For Heart activity that is planned for later this term. A real positive has been our upper primary students who have been willing to assist the younger students in the Schools. Well done on being positive role models at Endeavour!

NAPLAN

This week our Year 3 and 5 students have been involved in the annual NAPLAN assessments. I would like to thank students for their willingness to persevere with these and having a go to do the best that they can.

School Arrival Classroom doors open at Endeavour Schools at 8:25am, with official instruction commencing at 8:40am. If a student arrives before 8:25am it is asked that they make their way to the undercover area to be supervised by a staff member. This allows all students to be adequately supervised while on the school grounds and school staff time to finalise preparations prior to classroom doors opening. Year 6 Camp The Year 6 students at Endeavour Schools are off on their annual camp to Bridgetown next week. Camp is a great opportunity for students to develop important life skills in a different and supportive learning environment. Thank you to all staff across Year 6 for your efforts in preparing and organising this activity for the benefit of our students. Round Robin Sports In Week 5 Endeavour Schools will be involved in their first fixture of the round robin upper primary sports competition involving neighbouring schools. Selected students will represent Endeavour Schools in football, soccer, hockey and netball. I encourage all students to try their best in these competitions and to listen carefully to the instructions from your coaches. Digital Technologies Digital Technologies is a subject within the curriculum area of Technologies. Through Digital Technologies students use computational thinking and information systems to define, design and implement solutions. Our Year 5 and 6 students, and teachers, have been working with Mrs Lauren Milne in understanding this curriculum area and engaging in a variety of weekly activities to build students’ knowledge. Through this work students are engaging in projects where they need to develop solutions to a real life situations. Regards,

Chris Burgess - Principal

Education Support Centre

Dear Parents and Caregivers, Our Year 6 students are off at camp next week and we wish them all the best for their trip to Bridgetown. Year 6 camp is a great experience for the students and I am sure they will all be bringing back fond memories of their camp experience when they return. I’m so pleased that so many of our students are able to attend this year and I can’t wait to hear their stories when they return. Here’s hoping the weather stays nice for next week. Meanwhile this week our Year 3 and 5 students are participating in NAPLAN testing for literacy and numeracy. I encourage all students to do their very best and listen carefully to their teacher’s instructions. Put in your best effort girls and boys! This week Endeavour Education Support Centre has had its Department of Education Services (DES) Review for IPS. We’ve had some of our School Board members, some of our parents, some of our therapists, some of our office staff, some of our education assistants and all of our teachers in for discussions with the reviewers. We will receive a report about their findings in the near future and it will be available on our website for everyone to be able to access. I’ll keep you updated with the progress of this report. Have you noticed the small loose parts in the Discovery Playscape alcove? We are trialling a range of natural materials for children’s learning and discovery play from Nature Based Play this term and so

far we’ve had a campfire, a tepee and a pirate ship created from the

bits and pieces. I’m sure there will be many more creations from our very creative students. Take a look at what can be done with some very simple things to play with. Fabulous!

Regards, Jayne Gorbould - ESC Principal

From the Pen of the Principals

In light of the recent accident at the front of the school, we ask all drivers to drive

with care and show courtesy to our neighbours and not drive and/or park on their lawns

and driveways. You might choose to park a bit further away from the school and enjoy a

short stroll.

Please be aware that the two car parks at the front of the school

(Endeavour Drive) are for STAFF or ACROD PERMIT HOLDERS
