Last week we looked at Tsunamis! Now have a go at this:
The sea is filled with marine life.
What do you think the people in the cars might see in the middle of the sea? Use the mat to write what you think the people in the cars might see when they look inside the wave.https://www.pobble365.com/the-tsunami
(word mats attached) CHALLENGE: Use 2A sentences! (Sentences with two adjectives and a comma) E.g. Inside the mighty, ferocious wave is a small, peaceful school of clown fish.
TARGET TIMES TABLE PRACTICE

It’s Polperro Primary’s ‘Seal Week’ this week. We are going to find out all about these amazing creatures. Let’s start by watching:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiSN_fORzyg
Then, discuss what you have found out.
Now, use the ‘label a seal’ attachment to draw and label the features of a seal.

“We are off on a virtual trip to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. So, hop on board and enjoy this ‘school trip of a lifetime.”
(Timetable at the bottom of the learning grid)
Let’s write about our ‘virtual’ school trip yesterday!
Today and tomorrow we are going to get familiar with what we call equivalent
fractions.
ART/DT: - Raised salt painting
Design a salt painting to show a seal/sealion in its natural

CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES TO DO OVER TWO DAYS:
You can either design a poster with information about seals/sealions
food habitat life span babies fun facts etc.
Or
Write a ‘virtual’ trip recount/diary entry of your day.
What did you do in order of the day
When/where you had snack/lunch
What activities did you do during your trip?
What have you learnt?
SPEND TODAY PLANNING! REMEMBER TO USE 2A sentences (poster attached) to make your writing as descriptive as possible.
Follow link to this introduction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKXqzpz-G0s
“We are just going to focus on halves, quarters and eighths. Have a go at making this:
halves = fold strip in half
quarters = fold half and half again
eighths = fold half, half and half again
Now work out how many quarters and eighths are equivalent (the same value) as the half.
Discuss what you notcie about the numerator and denominator link (the top number is
always half of the bottom number)
CHALLENGE: Following that rule, can you guess how many sixths and tenths are equivalent to one half?
habitat.
Follow the link for instructions – it’s easy peasy! https://www.netmums.com/activities/how-to-make-raised-salt-paintings
If you don’t have the resources, then follow the link (excuse their
American chit-chat) to

And experiment using different techniques (pencil/felt tips/wax crayons, paint etc.)

Write up your task today.
Some suggestions:
Success criteria:
full sentences
use of two adjectives and a ,
CL and FS punctuation check!
Watch this teacher explain equivalent fractions in more detail:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JUbXN5accU
Download ths attached Fraction Wall.
Can you find as many equivalent fractions as possible?
e.g
1/2 = 2/4 1/3 = 2/6 3/4 = 6/8
Create an equivalent fraction poster to show me what you have found out!

PSHE LET’S FIND REASONS TO BE HAPPY!
Go through the powerpoint and talk about what makes you happy, how you can make others happy
and suggestions for others to create a happier world.
Then, create a Little Book of Happiness for our class to put on display. Take as much time as you
want with this.
(If you can print the attached, just glue the back of the pages together to create a booklet. If not, then create similar template from scratch – your art work is always better than a grown-up made one!)

Watch this quick clip and discuss the types of habitats you have seen and the creatures who live there https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z2bygk7. Then discuss which habitats seals and sealions might call home.
Let us just observe seals in their natural habitats.
ACTIVITY: Skip over the timeframes until you get a scene you like and have a go at sketching from ‘real life’ . https://explore.org/livecams/oceans/seal-pups-cam
FINALLY – LET’S GET CREATIVE“A seal’s favourite treat is…a jellyfish. OR “Create a seal/sealion out of junk modelling” So let’s make a jellyfish in a bottle!” Check out this website for ideashttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFff7K-QQJ8 https://buggyandbuddy.com/ocean-crafts-kids/
“Now back on that ‘virtual bus’ and get yourselves home. Your parents will be waiting for you!”
