News from Year 9

In English class we have been studying non-narrative writing and how to analyse it. In Science, we have been working on types of chemical reactions and in maths, we have worked on number patterns and equations. History and Geography have kept us busy with industrialisation and world population. Music has been very interesting as we have been learning about the parts of an orchestra and are currently working on creating a display to show them to the rest of the school.

Early Years

Years 1 & 2

News from the Classroom We have got so many new children and it’s super exciting times for us in the Early Childhood room. This half of term we are going to be looking at patterns. This may be patterns with shapes, colours, numbers and just about anything really! We are very happy with our new reading area and new dressing up clothes and can’t wait to learn more and more each day.

In Literacy, we have looked at lots of different fairytales and have had great fun retelling them. In Maths, we have been working out how to check our change when shopping. During Science we have been looking at the properties of materials and in Topic we have

Year 3 In Literacy, we have been writing sentences and stories about robots. We had to use conjunctions to make interesting sentences. In Maths we have learnt about fractions such as how to divide numbers into a fraction of a number. During the run up to the American elections, we learnt all about the 45 presidents and presented our findings in our class assembly.

Year 5 & 6 In our Science lessons, we have been learning all about light – where it comes from and what it is. During Literacy lessons we found out how to write recounts and we know lots of grammatical techniques that will enhance our own writing. In Maths, we have been recapping frog method and looking at how to solve word problems. We are comparing different people and places around the world in our Topic lessons.

In Literacy, we have been learning about the Boogey Man and The Trolls Next Door in poetry form. We also answered questons about the story. In Maths we have been simplifying fractions and splitting whole numbers into equal parts. In Topic, we have been learning about weather and the instruments used to measure different types of weather.

Year 7 & 8 In Maths, we have been learning about formulae, equations and the probability of numbers. We have been learning about non-narrative writing, in Literacy, and we are about to create our own leaflets. During Science lessons, we have investigated pure and impure substances. The new canteen food has got off to a great start! With fresh and warm meals, packed in reusable Tupperware, the students have been delighted with the delicious and healthy snacks and lunches. So far, the chicken salad, the mini pizzas and the fruit cups have all been a real hit! Many students are signing up as they see the scrumptious food on offer.

Aladdin

On Friday 2nd December, the new school banda was transformed into a delightful theatre for the ambitious production of Aladdin. With over 70 children participating in various capacities, it promised to be a memorable occasion. As the parents and family members streamed through the entrance, the

seats were soon filled with excitable adults eagerly anticipating the arrival of the children. From the moment the narrators introduced the production, the show was a resounding success! The main cast of pupils ranged from Year 4 – Year 9 with everyone delivering their parts with clear voices and

talented acting. They were successfully supported by the remaining pupils, with confident singing and sound affects (whooooooosh! as the genie appeared!) Many songs were sung throughout with particular mention going to those with solo parts as they all did incredibly well. It is amazing to think of every child learning all the words to all the songs in such a short amount of time. The

Grand Finale song ended with rapturous applause from a proud audience of family and friends.
