Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
This Friday is the last day of Term 2. The first day of Term 3 will be Tuesday 21st July.
Gradually schools in NSW are getting back to normal with many activities including
PSSA sport and Special Religious Education set to return in Term 3. From last week we
have been running short assemblies for K-2 and 3-6. Unfortunately at this time there
are still restrictions on parents and carers entering the school and attending school
events. We will be guided by the NSW government updates but we look forward to re-
commencing school assemblies and community events as soon as possible.
Due to Covid 19, some events have had to be cancelled or postponed. NAIDOC Week
2020 will now be held in November. The theme this year is ‘Always Was, Always Will
Be’. Despite the change of time we will be holding some cultural and art classes this
week with visiting artist Michael Fardon and Peter Dawe for the Botanic Gardens. Mi-
chael has already worked with Sadleir PS students to design and complete a number of
murals in the school. Peter will be working with students in the garden. The students
will learn about traditional Aboriginal conservation practices and plant local plants in
the garden near the back gate.
The Western Liverpool Performing Arts Festival has unfortunately had to be cancelled
this year due to Covid 19. We are currently planning some alternative performing arts
activities to ensure that students have an opportunity to learn new dance and music
skills and perform in front of an audience.
The canteen will return to full operation next term with social distancing and additional
hygiene measures in place. We are also working to get breakfast club up and running as
soon as possible.
Thanks again for all of your support and encouragement this term. Despite the disrup-
tion students have engaged in some fantastic learning and have been extremely resili-
ent in challenging times. Please enjoy the holiday break and we look forward to a great
Term 3 at Sadleir Public School.

Sport Uniform
When every child is wearing
the same uniform they feel
equal. They sit together,
learn together and grow
together in a safe
environment.
Most importantly, school
uniforms are designed to stand
up to everyday wear and
repeated washing. This means
there’s no need for parents to
buy new clothes regularly.
The letter B is brilliant, it really is the best.
Without the letter B there would not be a bed to rest.
There would not be a baker for you to bake a cake.
There would not be a bandage when you get bitten by a snake.
There would never be a bird with feathers, coloured blue.
There would never be a butterfly, bee’s and bunnies too.
BUT WAIT that is not all, please don’t go insane,
Without the letter B there would be no blood
running
through your
BRAIN.

Stage 1 recorder group has been working on
the music notes B, A and G.
Stage 2 recorder
group have been
practising festival
music.
The stage 3 choir has been focusing on 2 part
harmonies, with some students singing soprano
and others singing the alto parts.
Recently in Stage 2, students designed and constructed a catapult using a variety of
materials and tools. The STEM activity enabled students to engage in the engineering
design process and consolidate what they had learned in class for Mathematics
(length). Students inquired about different types of catapults and their features.
Students planned, designed and built their catapults using popsicle sticks, sticky
tape, rubber bands, spoons, boxes, and many other materials. Students projected a
marshmallow from the baseline with their catapult, measured the distance with a
trundle wheel, and recorded the results in their STEM journal.
Mr Tran.
Amie led Ella, Sema and Bethany to
search for sticks to build a campfire
like you do when you’re camping. The
children then pretended to roast
marshmallows on their campfire.
Michaela worked on her problem solving
skills using the rock tower pieces as she
tried to balance each rock.
Over the past couple of weeks, the children have been learning about Space
after Lucas shared his interest in it. Some of the facts the children have
learnt are: astronauts go to space, there is no gravity so they have to be
strapped in to sleep, stars are made of gas, small stars are yellow and large
stars are either blue or red. We are going to continue to explore more about
space including planets and the International Space Station.
Charlie discovered he can use the funnel to fill
the bucket with sand in the sandpit. He then
observed that if the wind flows the sand
doesn't go directly into the middle of the
bucket but to the side and sometimes to the
floor and was very interested by this.
Sunday 21st June was
International Yoga day! To
celebrate the grasshopper
children learnt some new
yoga poses including tree
pose!
Our school library is now open
Monday – Friday at LUNCH TIME with Miss Malone!
Once students have finished eating their lunch they can walk to the library. In the
library students can browse, search, reserve and read from our vast collection of amazing
books. Students can also use the quiet indoor space to practice
their drawing skills and techniques.
