WELCOME MESSAGEOn behalf of the Alberta College of Family Physicians, welcome to the What’s Up Doc? Research Showcase – The Power of Your Practice. This event is an excellent collection of the incredible family medicine and primary care research being undertaken.

The What’s Up Doc? Research Showcase is valued by the ACFP and our family medicine research community as it demonstrates how family physicians can be involved in primary care and family medicine research, conducted both ‘in’ and ‘on’ their practices in a powerful way. The College encourages family physicians to be part of a learning healthcare system where their data and input will be the power that fuels system transformation – “The Power of Your Practice”.

Our research event has grown incredibly over the past few years. This year we had an extremely positive response to the call for abstracts and received more than 90 submissions – the largest number to date! Thank you to everyone who submitted an abstract, and thank you to the Research Review Committee for your time in reviewing all of the abstracts received. The success of the Research Showcase would not be possible without all of the help from those involved!

OralThis year attendees have the option to choose from 29 oral presentations. Attendees are encouraged to circulate between the rooms to hear the research presentations and interact with the presentation teams. Oral presentations will be presented in Bluebell A & B and Hawthorn C rooms between the hours of 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm. Each presentation is scheduled for 15 minutes which includes the opportunity for attendees to ask questions at the end of the presentation.

PostersThe evening event includes the ASA Welcome Reception and Research Poster Presentations. 47 posters will be highlighted for viewing in Pre-function and Hawthorn A, B & C rooms.
