GriefShare is a support group to find help and encouragement
after the death of a spouse, child, family member or friend. It
is led by caring people who understand what you are feeling
and offer comfort during this difficult time.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS GIVING – toward our Auditorium
Project. We have raised a total of $156,062.98 toward the initial
improvements, plus upgrading the lighting! You can continue to give
toward our building improvements by using a Building Fund envelope.
CHAPEL 101 - will be taught by Pastor Dan this Wed.
from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the choir room (#138). Chapel
101 is the first of three discipleship classes to help you
understand the purpose and ministry process of Johnston
Chapel, and is required for membership. Please sign up
at the Welcome Center today to attend.
OUR OCTOBER MISSIONS OFFERING - will be for the
Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf to help give
their teachers a raise, repair facilities, and buy school
supplies. Please consider how the Lord would have you
give towards this ministry that reaches, teaches, and
nurtures the Deaf of Jamaica.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD PACKING PARTY - is
today at 2:30 p.m. We will meet in the Fellowship
Hall for instructions, and we will package in the gym.
Plan to be there to help us reach our goal of 700
shoeboxes! You may also pick up shoeboxes from either
Welcome Center to pack and return to the church.
LADIES, PLEASE JOIN US - November 5-6 for Breathe, our second annual
women’s conference at Johnston Chapel! We will gather together as women
for worship, fellowship, and teaching about prayer with special guest Brooke
McGlothlin, co-founder of Million Praying Moms and author of five books on
prayer. The cost is $40 and includes large and small group sessions, lunch, and
resources. Our worship will be led by Bill Rich. Details and registration will be
online at https://jcbcbreathe2021.eventbrite.com or at the table by the gym
entrance. Please pick up a few extra flyers to share with ladies outside our
church family.
WEST VIRGINIANS FOR LIFE – defends life from conception until
natural death. The Unborn Child with Down Syndrome Protection
Act petition is available at the Welcome Center for you to read,
sign, and show your support for life.
THANK YOU FOR GIVING - to Operation Christmas Child! As a church, we
have given about $4,200 so far, and we need $6,300 to ship our goal of 700
boxes. If you would like to give toward these costs, please use a Special
Offering envelope and put OCC on the memo line. We also need supplies
such as “wow items” like flip-flops or shoes, soccer balls with a pump,
stuffed animals, dolls, cars/trucks, jump ropes, dinosaurs, and other toys,
small toys for filler items, colored pencils, crayons (24 count boxes or
less), and markers. We encourage families to bring family photos or West
Virginia postcards to add a personal touch.
FCA MEN’S 3-ON-3 BASKETBALL – will resume on Sundays from
4:00-6:00 p.m. from October 24 through November 14. Men age
16+ will enjoy fellowship, devotionals, refreshments, and lots of
games and competitions. For more information or to sign up,
contact Darrell Presley at 304-920-0962.
WORD OF LIFE REVERB – all-night outreach event will be held on Friday,
November 5, for all youth grades 6-12. We will enjoy a hockey game at Liberty
University, followed by a gospel message. Afterwards, we will enjoy pizza,
bowling, a trampoline park, roller-skating, and laser tag. The cost is $50, and
you need to see Pastor James for more information and to register for the
event.
IN LIEU OF TRUNK OR TREAT - we will have a fall party for the Awana,
Arrows, and Krew children on Wednesday,
October 27. The kids will wear costumes, and there
will be lots of fun games and activities. If you would
like to donate candy for this event, please drop it off
in the Awana Store donation box next to the
Information Center.
IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN! - We are excited to announce our
2021 Christmas program, Jesus Messiah. We still have openings for
