What’s new in Plimmerton?

Playground plans need your input We are looking for parents of youngsters using the playground at Karehana Park, and people interested in playground design, to step up and help with this key project.

Karehana Park playground A team of interested people is needed to work with our PRA project team and PCC to ensure that the playground in Karehana Park is revamped in a way that adds to the overall park redevelopment. Interested parents of young children who use the park play area and design enthusiasts should contact Roger Johnson who has project managed the park’s redevelopment to date. The council will be wanting ideas in the next few weeks. Contact plimmertonra@gmail.com

Other Karehana Park news The stream bank construction is under way with the installation of concrete steps. A meeting between the project team and the council this week will see details sorted for completion of the bank phase of the redevelopment. Check out the plans on the web site and progress to date in the park. Very exciting stuff.

Mid winter dip another huge success A gallery of photos on www.plimmerton.org.nz/neighbourhood-info/kindy/ captures the craziness of the occasion. A fine day with a crisp breeze saw record numbers taking to the waters at Karehana Bay, 130 dippers and 450 people in total enjoying the occasion. More than $10,000 was raised for the kindergarten’s playground redevelopment. That takes the total to $40,000 in the past four years and work is expected to start in August this year. Well done to all the Kindergarten team who work so hard to make this annual event world-famous in Plimmerton.

Do you use the little Plunket playground? If you are a parent, grandparent or caregiver with littlies then Plunket would like your input. They want to make the best use of the playground on their property and it may be necessary to re-site it to maximise its use.
