Pellentesque:

10U- Colin Morgan Colin is the exact type of player that the Positive Coaching Alliance wishes to develop. He is team first oriented and at the same time always strives to make himself better. He leads by example in all that he does and is looked up to by his teammates because of this. A true pleasure to coach as he not only applies the coaching he is given, but also asks questions and watches how others play. 12U Boys- Noah Rowe Noah is the kind of player every coach wants. Takes instructions and works them into his game. Never gives less than100%. Always looking for ways to improve. 14U Boys- Sachin Okuma Sachin is a Triple Impact Competitor because he never got down on himself. He was always able to shake off a mistake or missed save and come back strong to make a big save. Through his perseverance, Sachin fulfilled his role for our team.

Sam works hard, has showed tremendous improvement throughout the year. He is a great teammate!!

SOCAL Athletes Help in the Community SOCAL Athlete Katie Hungerford leads Assisteens to teach kids with special needs to swim.

For the past several years the Assisteens, a division of the Assistance League of Tustin, has partnered with Tustin-based Blue Bouy Swim School to teach special needs children how to swim and be safe in the water. Katie Hungerford took the reigns this year from her 3-time past Co-Chairs Eleanor Lee and Hannah Lapkin and was joined by Julia Sellers to help with this rewarding project. For eight Sundays in late spring, Katie and crew teach the children swim strokes in a fun environment that includes waterpolo skills, games and races. Katie says it is fun! She really likes helping the kids and thinks it is great how something so small can make such a big difference in the kids’ lives.

Great job ladies!

14U Gold Boys- Sam Harrison

PCA Players of the Quarter Congratulations to our SOCAL PCA Players of the months of the Summer Quarter

These athletes were chosen by their coaches for demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, teamwork and dedication.

Katie, Eleanor, and Julia with their happy students!

2U Girls- Natalie Tuerk Natalie came to SOCAL WPF last Autumn and just passed her one year mark. Natalie distinguishes herself as a PCA winner for her respect for her teammates, her effort and her continuous learning. Natalie has a super great future in water polo and her competitive intensity improves her teammates and make her a “gamer”. 14 Gold Girls- Briana Portales Briana came back strong from an serious injury to put super extra effort into getting ready for high school. Briana dedicated herself to the “3A’s” -- anticipation, aggression, and attacking -- as her “effort yardsticks” and matured so much she made Varsity at Villa Park High. Despite the tugs of varsity high school, Briana closed out strong with SOCAL. 14 Black Girls-Grace Thawley Grace is embracing water polo like an approaching freight train. She is gaining speed, traction, and momentum so you better watch out. There will be no stopping this girl who has so much heart. Grace is the glue of TEAM, embraced the philosophy of John Wooden, and impacted her Coaches and Teammates with her wisdom and insight.

14U Boys- Nolan Ortega Is a Triple Impact Competitor because he was able to find a way to be competitive in every game while keeping his emotions under control. Nolan made some big strides in his emotional control and was therefore able to give his best for our team.

Congratulations to SOCAL Waterpolo’s Hannah Lapkin (Princeton ) who helped team USA win the Gold Medal in the first year of women’s waterpolo at the Maccabiah Games in Israel. When asked about her experience, Hannah said , “Israel was by far one of the greatest experiences of my life. Being able to represent the US in a country that means so much to me was truly amazing, and to win a gold medal on top of that was more than I could ever ask for!”

The 12U Girls had a great season!
