Parent ONLINE session tonight - Tues 18th August, 7pm As parent contact has been limited during COVID-19, we are constantly looking at ways to strengthen and support a community approach to our

students’ education. Tonight, Dr Adam Fraser will be presenting a Live PD session, that focuses on Striving Schools for Parents and Community Members. This very valuable session will run for approximately 60 minutes and will cover how parents and schools can partner together to help children develop more resilience, improve learning outcomes and have a better relationship with struggle and uncertainty. As part of Education Week 2020, we have awarded a special certificate to the parents and carers for

strengthening relationships with school staff and teachers through online learning. Without your support and dedication to your child's education, we would not have achieved such amazing outcomes.

There is often one individual who goes above and beyond their requirements as a community member of the MPS family. Marg Feeney (pictured) has been recognised as part of Education Week 2020 for her outstanding contribution by a School Community Member for showing kindness and consideration towards the staff's wellbeing during very difficult times. Marg has 5 grandchildren currently attending Muswellbrook Public School - Charli (not present), Olivia, Eddie, Max and Daisy. Marg is an exceptional person with a heart of gold and for this, we would like to say 'thank you for everything that you do' including baking the delicious morning teas, volunteering in emergencies at the front office (pre Covid) and for participating in the reading program ever since your own children were enrolled in kindergarten (pre Covid). Thank you Marg! We appreciate everything you do for MPS!

Thank You Woolworths Muswellbrook We would like to Thank Woolworths Muswellbrook for their weekly donation of fruit. The

fruit is distributed to the classrooms.

Important Information COVID-19 restrictions - sporting activities and asthma puffers!

Please be aware that students with asthma will be required to carry their own puffer during sporting activities such as the cross country carnival (Sept 11th) and K-2 sports day (Sept 23rd). Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, community puffers cannot be reused, even if using a disposable spacer and sanitising the puffer after use. Your child’s teacher will check if your child has their puffer on the day of the sporting event and if they don’t have it, unfortunately, they will be unable to participate. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students. Notes have already been sent home about this. Please be aware that the office ladies will not be contacting parents on the day.

COVID – 19 UPDATE FOR SCHOOLS

Please protect the health and safety of students and staff.

• Parents and carers are reminded NOT to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms.

• Students who present at school as unwell or have flu like symptoms will be sent home. Arrangements will need to be made to be tested for COVID - 19.

• Students and staff with flu-like symptoms will need to provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result before being permitted to return to school.

Kindergarten Tea Towel

Would you like a memento of your child’s first year of Kindergarten?

Kindergarten will be creating irresistible keepsakes which will make the best Christmas presents for grandparents, family and friends.

Kindergarten students have begun drawing their self-portraits which will be printed onto the best quality linen tea

towels. All of Kindergarten will be on the same towel along with the school crest.

Each tea towel will cost $12.00

You only have one chance to order! Numbers and money need to be finalised by Friday 18th September 2020.
