Featuring iconic Hastings landscapes, toy sea creatures, film, music and a lot of locally-sourced sand and pebbles, Washed Up Car-Go is an art installation in a car park that asks us to think about plastic pollution, consumerism and the tradition of maritime art.

CHRIS DOBROWOLSKIANTARCTICA8 November, Civic Theatre, ChelmsfordFor several months in the coldest, windiest place on Earth, Chris Dobrowolski worked alongside the team at the British Antarctic Survey trying to experiment artistically whilst also trying to survive. The result is an adventure-story performance-lecture about overcoming hardship and celebrating difference via tales of carnivorous ducks, Ladybird books and a sledge built out of gold metal picture frames.

THE VACUUM CLEANER AND HANA MADNESSIN CHAINS 12-29 October, Bebaz Batas Festival, National Gallery of Indonesia, JakartaIn July 2018, artists and mental health activists, the vacuum cleaner and Hana Madness, visited people who are and have been held in chains due to their mental health (known as pasung). Through playful interviews, they exhibit a new work which challenges and reframes perceptions of mental health in Indonesia.

STACY MAKISHITHE COMFORTER21 November, Word of Warning, The Lowry, ManchesterPart ritual, part prayer, part rowdy revivalist rally, The Comforter is a rite of passage that reclaims spirituality and proposes a new perspective on the Church. Exchanging psalms and sacrament for 1980s-90s pop culture, this one woman show draws inspiration from Twin Peaks and Ingmar Bergman and throws a kiss to George Michael.
