whats on winchester weeks 4-5 edition

Monday 28th February - Sunday 13th March ‘Change brings opportunity’ Can you believe that there is literally only 4 weeks left of this term already? However, as depressing as that sounds, there are still some amazing events and going’s on at the Union in the final few weeks of term. First, I must start by congratulating Jez, Rhea, and all of the Winton Crew for an amazing Winton Weekend 2011. The sporting events and party at the Union were a great success and that was all down to the great effort of the crew who worked extremely hard through great tiredness and bad weather. These next two weeks have so much for you to look forward to including the Silent Disco, third round of Win- chester’s Got Talent and two amazing flirt! themes in Disney and Pyjamas! This year, Winchester’s Got Talent has, again, been a huge success, with the Vault reaching capacity every round. In order to witness the third round and see which two acts will be making it through to the final, you must arrive early to get a seat! It is also important to note that the cut off time for ticket holders to BOP and flirt! has now been brought forward half an hour. BOP tickets are now valid until 9.30pm and flirt! tickets until 10.30pm. Please ensure that you arrive early in time to meet these new cut-off times. Although, I hate talking about negative points, a hugely current problem at the moment is the noise levels of students on the walk to and from the Union. This has resulted in a number of complaints to us from distressed residents. I must stress how important it is to keep quiet and think about your actions when walking home in the early hours of the morning. Should this continue, students must recognise that there is a direct threat to the loss of our license which I’m sure nobody wants to see happen (No Bop, flirt! or any event). Treat others how you would like to be treated; It is vital to ensure a good relationship with our local community. It is also very important to fill in the following surveys which you will hear a lot about in the coming weeks. If you are in your final year then please fill in the NSS at www.thestudentsurvey.com ; the survey is your opportunity to provide enough evidence to pressure the University to make change. Our own survey is also available to complete at www.winchesterstudents.co.uk with lifetime entry to the Union, a mobile handset, entertainments package and other amazing prizes to win. Incredible.
