Register to Vote

UIW encourages all students, faculty and staff to become registered voters, and is hosting several events on campus this fall to facilitate voter registration on behalf of Bexar County and the State of Texas.

UIW alumni will be in the Marian Hall Student Center from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 4-6, to help hand out voter registration cards and answer questions about the registration process. The League of Women Voters also will have a representative on campus from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 25, also in the Student Center, to hand out voter registration cards.

There will also be a Voter Registration Information Session at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 6, also in Marian Hall. Sponsored by UIW's Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, this event is part of the NPHC City-Wide Sorority Night.

Officer'Transition:'You’ve$just$been$elected$a$new$officer,$Congratulations!$Now$what?!$The$purpose$of$the$Officer$Transition$workshop$is$to$assist$student$organizations$by$providing$good$practices$for$yearly$officer$transitions$to$be$more$effective$leaders.$It$will$guide$outgoing$and$incoming$officers$to$discuss$expectations$of$the$role$and$the$smooth$transfer$of$information$that$must$occur$to$succeed.$

BLACKOUT'TIMES:'You$may$not$schedule$an$event$during$the$duration$of$a$SOL$workshop.$Blackout$times$will$consist$of$1$hour$prior$to$event$and$an$estimated$2$hours$for$workshop.$Example:$LEAD$@$3pm$on$9/5/12$=$BLACKOUT'TIME:'2pm'–'5pm.'Events'will'not'be'approved'during'this'time.$If$you$are$required$to$attend$workshop$you$must$sign$out$at$the$end$of$the$event$for$credit.$Leaving$early$for$your$own$and/or$another$event$is$disrespectful$to$presenters$and$participation$credit$will$not$be$awarded.$

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!Phonathon is right around the corner and event coordinators are looking for interested student to volunteer and make calls to alumni regarding exciting events on campus and how they can give back to the university that gave them so much! From Sept 29-Oct 4 Volunteers can earn up to 15 hours on-campus community service as well as the chance to be entered into drawings at the end of the event for gift cards to places such as James Avery, UIW Bookstore, Subway and Frost Bank for their hard work! There are opportunities for on-campus part time employment after the event and each student will walk away with valuable work/job skills that will be sure to benefit them in their future careers!
