I’ve tattooed you on my

heart

And I’ll always have you

with me

The mark you left

The marks you leave each

time

Magnetic ink of blood

I’d like to say I know for sure

It would give you the impression of confidence and aspiration

I could up and fly away I suppose

England would be an incredible opportunity

To study and to travel

Behold history wherever I went

But I’d see your face in every new acquaintance

And my dreams would turn to nothing in my hand

(I’m glad I did)

A cathedral Captured in the evening skies

As the sun sinks down Casting its rays

Sideways Through images

Yellow Red Green Glass menageries

Lighthouses in the brick walls The square archways Cover and shield

Saints Sinners The grey corners Filled with the silent

Ghosts Of captives Slaves of the stones Surrounding their souls There A candle burns for one All Those who seek The close vastness Freedom Found within this fortress Worship and pray Weep and smile Share and shed what you may Confess and be cleansed Peace and grace They wait for you here Between the pillars In every shadow Caught somewhere in the cobwebs The fragile dust Whose fingers have graced The wood and stone

Words lift off the page

Flow through the open wells

Into the mind

Soaked up by my spongy brain

Stored away in the unknown crevices

Pulled out in unconsciousness

Processed, sorted

All meaning and life-giving essence

Sucked from the corpse

Digested to nourish the soul

Giving a pulse to my veins
