Reductions in funding most common cited reason forweakening of control program in question (49%). Theystate that:

Low transmission area – zoophilic vectors,

Indoor residual spraying (IRS) with deltamethrin for 3years at high intensity

Withdrawn after annual parasite index (API) fell bynearly 90% to below one per 10,000 per year andfollow-up studies were conducted over a period of 10years.

API & sporozoite positive rate (SPR) returned to levelscomparable to an unsprayed control area by the end ofstudy
