Prostacyclin is essentialProstacyclin is a natural substance made by your body. Prostacyclin helps keep the blood vessels in the lungs open and working properly. Patients with PAH may not produce enough natural prostacyclin.
Tyvaso is a form of man-made prostacyclin called a prostacyclin analogue. It mimics some of the effects of natural prostacyclin, helping to keep the blood flowing through your lungs.

Patients who added Tyvaso walked an average 71 feet (21.6 meters) farther at the end of the study. Those who did not add Tyvaso walked an average 10 feet (3 meters) farther.
