What  is  an  Accredited  Exercise  Physiologist  (AEP)?  

 •  Accredited  by  ESSA  (Exercise  &  Sports  Science  Australia)      This  enables  a  Medicare  Provider  Number,  Health  Fund  Rebates  &  registraIon  with  Workcover    /  DVA  as  an  Allied  Health  Provider.  

•  Specialising  in  prescripIon  of  exercise  &  movement  for  the  prevenIon  &  management  of  chronic  diseases  &  injuries.  Educate  paIents  to  manage  their  health  independently.  

•  Work  with  condiIons  such  as  lower  back  pain,  osteoarthriIs,  osteoperosis,  musculoskeletal  injuries,  heart  disease,  neurological  disorders.

Role  with  Spine  Plus?    Ø To  provide  a  ‘bridge’  between  clinical  early  stage  rehabilitaIon  &  funcIonal  normalised  training  programs.    

Ø implement  an  individually  tailored  program  with  progression  of  rehabilitaIon  &  exercise  for  6-­‐12  week  post  surgical  paIents.  

Ø Assist  in  exercise  prescripIon  &  design  for  non-­‐surgical  paIents  with  chronic  back  pain.  

Ø Adapt  &  modify  exercise  prescripIon  to  paIents  also  restricted  by  other  chronic  diseases  &  injuries.    Ø Assist  paIents  with  any  addiIonal  follow-­‐up  programs  /  exercise  advice  out  of  clinic  where  required.

•  Understanding  the  progression  of  these  exercises,    from  clinical  to  ‘funcIonal’  is  paramount.

produce  smooth,  efficient  movement.  Without  a  fully  funcIonal  core,  efficient
