Received Comptroller Leadership Circle Gold Star Award for Financial Transparency 3 years in a row.


Prepared balanced budget despite $2,700,000

funding cut from the state this biennium.

Increased starting teacher salary to $40,000.

Provided all employees an average 2% raise. Kept health insurance benefits the same at no

additional expense to employees.

Maintained the tax rate at $1.37 for 5 years in a row.

Implement Project Based Learning with Cannan Elementary 3rd graders. ◦ Students will create projects that will require learning and

application of specific curriculum to real life issues.

◦ Students will work in teams to design real microgravity experiments that will compete to be carried out aboard the International Space Station.

◦ Reflects an interdisciplinary weave of science, technology, history, and written communication skills– in the languages of both English and MATHEMATICS.

Launch Mission 3 to the International Space Station with 5th graders at Hardy, Parmley and Turner Elementary Schools.
