PLEASE, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS → TO ADD YOUR GOAL TO THE LP. MOST OF YOUR ANSWERS SHOULD BE ON YOUR GOAL SHEET THAT YOU ALREADY COMPLETED IN ADVISORY.

IF YOU HAVE NOT LOADED A GOAL INTO THE LEARNER

PROFILE YET, PLEASE USE THE DIRECTIONS ON THIS SLIDE TO

DO SO. LAST MONTH WE LOADED OUR GOAL TO BE AN

INDEPENDENT LEARNER (EX: NO MISSING ASSIGNMENTS,

REQUESTING TO RETEST, ETC).

WHEN STUDENTS HAVE A GOAL IN THE LEARNER PROFILE THEY NEED TO REVISIT IT AND REFLECT ON A REGULAR BASIS. THIS FIRST GOAL IS DUE THE FIRST SEMESTER, SO IT IS TIME TO REFLECT, IF THEY HAVE NOT ALREADY.

Students should not create a

new goal, but click on a

goal already existing. They

can choose EDIT (the pencil).

It could look something like

this. IF they see this box,

they should click on the +

by the REFLECTIONS tab.

TOPIC : INDEPENDENT LEARNER GOAL

• Students should review their description and then click in their reflection box.

Prompts that they could respond to:

1. Am I making progress on my goal? If yes, how? If no, why?

2. If yes, how will I know when I have made my goal?

3. If no, what will I add to my plan or do differently to make my goal by December?

4. Who can I ask for help or celebrate with?

5. Any thoughts/reflections that student wants to add about their progress.

CONGRATULATIONS!YOU JUST REFLECTED ON YOUR GOAL TOWARDS BEING A STRONGER INDEPENDENT LEARNER!

•Remember your steps to achieve your goal. Revisit them

weekly to be sure you remember and make it happen.

Your advisor will be discussing your goals with you over

the year. You might also be using the LP when you

conference with your parents this year.

EXTRA TIME?

• If your advisor gives permission, students that finish early could take the

Habits and Dispositions surveys on the LP. They are brief. There are 24

multiple choice on the Habits and about 8 questions on the dispositions survey.

• An alternative, if crunched for time, is to enjoy a discussion about the goals.

Invite students to share out about progress or request ideas as to how best

achieve the next shift in their independent learning.

• Work on any advisory activities that your class needs to catch up on.
