Whetman Pinks has been in Devon since 1936, initially continuing the business as a market garden and in the last 30 years specialising in breeding and growing Pinks.
We have developed into an International breeding, propagating and sales operation with our Dianthus Pinks being enjoyed by millions across the world. The clove-scented fragrance of our hardy, repeat flowering pinks must rate as one of the most pleasurable summer experiences for most gardening enthusiasts.
Transforming the business has required experience, insight and innovation to keep ahead of consumer trends and we are particularly proud of bringing a modern fresh twist to this very traditional British garden favourite.
In this catalogue you will see a multitude of colours, patterns, shapes and sizes to suit most needs but all are underpinned by robust genetics which have been thoroughly tested for grower and consumer appeal.
We have a tremendous team that bring everything to life and we value the partnerships with our customers. Thank you for supporting our business and keeping us on our toes!
We hope our Pinks add a shot of spice, sophistication and profit to your business.
Have a very successful year and enjoy our 4 new introductions.Managing Director

Comprehensive trials
There has been phenomenal advancements in biological sci-ence during the last few decades. But as our environment and consumer habits change, we need to keep ahead of the trends and needs of the market. Plant breeding is a key component of Whetman Pinks’ research and development process. The company invests a significant amount of resources in the in-house breeding department. Our teams are currently working on new and exciting genetics, within a variety of sciences, to produce the next generation of plants that have the best possible characteristics.
Highly skilled and dedicated breeders blend their expertise, creativity and traditional methods with sophisticated decision support software and laboratory research and development to bring award-winning plant varieties to market. With 12 new products launched in the last 3 years, and many more in development, you can be assured that we will bring you the very best of our future breeding.
We listen to you, our customers and always endeavour to meet the highest standards of plant health, cutting and young plant quality. The mother stock is tested twice yearly and inspected by FERA on a monthly basis.
Our aim is to deliver the highest quality of service you could wish for, with advice given willingly and freely. Our success in achieving this contributes to your success.
5 4
We allow about 8 years for the selection process to be completed before introducing a new plant variety. During this time it will be tested for its hardiness, repeat flowering qualities, good vegetative growth, fragrance, health and vigour and as an overall good plant for the grower as well as the consumer.

Anemones andRanunculus
EXCLUSIVE SUPPLYSOLE UK DISTRIBUTOR
RanunculusThe popularity of this brightly coloured Spring flower grows year on year providing impact at a time when few other flowers have such rich colours. The cut flower commands high prices because of their excellent quality and high yield.Pre-germinated or dry claws are planted 25cm apart in September/October for flowering March/April under cold glass or polythene structures. Colours include red, white, rose and gold and they can be grown without heat. The mix is virtually 100% double. Ranunculus are relatively hungry and trouble free but need regular spraying to prevent mildew.
When buying mixed Anemone corms the percentages of colours included can vary. We suggest buying single colours and mixing yourself to avoid a possible imbalance. Please note: Anemones and Ranunculus are sold in multiples of 1000.
Hybrid AnemonesPlant corms in pots or open ground, under cover and with frost protection, from August through to October for cropping November to March. Three series:Meron - EarlyGalilee - mid seasonJerusalem - mid season main crop
