• Link2Lists is the Library’s reading list service• Helps you locate all your reading list content • Easy to find what you need • Links to books, journals, electronic articles, e-books,

How do I access E-resources?

• All you will need is your central University username and password which you are given when you register as a student.

• This can be used logon to databases and e-journals if you are on or off campus.

Is it true that I can have a book for as long as I want?

• You can loan a book for 4 weeks unless it is recalled by another user. You can also renew the book by logging on to your Library Account via the library catalogue if no-one else has requested it.

• Taught PGs can take out up to 20 books.• Research PG’s can take out 40 books

Where do I get my library PIN and what’s it for ?

• PINs issued by email & available from Circulation Desk & Reception Desk

– Renew and reserve items online– See details of your loans, reservations & fines– Logon to your library account to change your PIN

to something you will easily recall.

• Heavily used books and photocopies of articles

• 1 night, 2 night and 3 hour loan periods

• Some reference-only material

How can I obtain an item that the library doesn’t have in stock?

• Document Supply is located at the Joule Enquiry Desk and in the Main Library on the Blue Ground floor.

• £2 per standard item for books, journal articles, theses etc

• Journal articles can be emailed direct to you Y4

Do we have to pay fines? How much are they?

• Borrowed material should be returned on or before the due date

• There are fines for overdue books• Reminders are sent by email. Check your

Library Account and your emails – not seeing reminders doesn’t count as an excuse!

• There is a computer cluster in the Joule Library and on Blue Area Floors 1, 2 & 3 in the Main Library

• Self-registration system for your central username and password.

• This gives you off-campus access to most electronic resources

• Manage your references

• Compile bibliographies to insert directly into your disseration

How do I use the Photocopiers ?

• Photocopiers located around the Library

• Your ID Card acts as your photocopying card

• A4 copies are 6p each; A3 copies are 10p

• The Photocopying Services desk offers colour photocopying and copying onto OHP transparencies
