Welcome toWhitcliffe Mount

I joined the school as Headteacher in September 2013 and I can honestly say it is a fantasticplace to work both the staff and students have made me feel extremely welcome! We areproud of our track record of ensuring our students enjoy their t ime at school and achievehighly so that we can celebrate their successes.

In December 2013 we were visited by Ofsted, who judged us as being good across theboard. The Ofsted team spoke very highly of our students who were fantastic ambassadorsfor Whitcliffe Mount during the inspection, and we were proud to receive feedback on ourstudents excellent behaviour, their active participation in a range of school activities andclubs, the respect they show to others and the welcoming environment. Our students spokeopenly with inspectors explaining they felt safe and happy and that they were making goodprogress at Whitcliffe Mount.

We have always celebrated our students talents and achievements both academically andsocially. Nevertheless, it is fantastic to have this endorsed by Ofsted.

We are a happy school where lessons arestimulating and fun.

A flexible and inclusive curriculum offersa wide variety of GCSEs, ranging fromtraditional academic subjects to vocationalcourses and work-related programmes.Our specialist teachers aim to provide ahigh quality and creative education thatchallenges, inspires and meets the individualneeds and abilities of all our students. Aboveall, they relish the opportunity to help eachstudent achieve their best.

We are also committed to safeguarding andpromoting the welfare of all our studentsby encouraging them to embrace a healthylifestyle and teaching them how to staysafe, for example, on the internet or whentravelling to and from school.

AnoutstandingfutureOne of the most important lessons we teachour students is that if they work hard, followtheir dreams and aim high, they can achievewhatever they put their minds to.

Our emphasis on academic success iscomplemented by a strong tradition ofextra-curricular clubs and activities. Theserange from sports including boys andgirls football, rugby, gymnastics, athleticsand table tennis to Drama, debating, choir,photography and cooking the list is endless.There are also opportunities to take part infundraising events, enterprise activities andnational initiatives, including World Book Dayand the Duke of Edinburghs Award scheme.Trips, visits and residentials also help tobring the curriculum to life and provide ourstudents with a well-rounded education.

Students talk positivelyabout opportunities to developsporting skills, their musical

talents, to join clubs and totake part in community events

and fund-raising.
