RESPONDING TO COVID-19

At White City, many of our research facilities are closed and building access is limited to essential research and operational activity. We are continuing to fully support our community in student and commercial residences. Current government guidelines state that construction activity is permitted to continue provided that safety guidance from Public Health England is rigorously enforced.

We are working closely with contractors who remain on site to ensure that social distancing measures are implemented and safe working distances are complied with.

BUILDING UPDATES

Sir Michael Uren HubContractors ISG are working on planned refurbishment works on levels 9 to 11 of the building. The compound installed outside the building has been expanded by 3.5m to accommodate social distancing for contractors working on site.

School of Public HealthAs part of the next phase of enabling works for the School of Public Health building, the main entrance to the campus on Wood Lane and the campus car park will be closed from 1 May for approximately 12 weeks.

Campus users and visitors can access the north site through an alternative entrance on Wood Lane. A temporary car park has also been set up for authorised vehicles.

New pedestrian entranceA temporary pedestrian route into the campus has been created via Shinfield Street, near the current car park. In the interests of safety, cyclists should dismount when using the new route. Motorcycle use is prohibited.

Scale SpaceContractors Erith remain on site and are progressing infrastructure works in order to meet all requirements in support of the Scale Space Buildings A and B.

The contractors for Scale Space, Western Building Systems, are working on site. Work on Building A is expected to be completed within the next month.

UKPN SubstationWork on the new UK Power Networks (UKPN) electrical substation on the south site of the campus has resumed.
