parks provided instead.
Sun Smart Reminder (Hats on)
A reminder to parents the school’s SunSmart policy requires students to wear hats from 1st September. All students are required
to wear their broad brimmed hats outdoors. Hats can be purchased from the school uniform shop for $10. Students without hats
will need to be under the hat tree during breaks.

Return Portfolios By now your child’s portfolio should have been returned. If it hasn’t please do so as soon as possible. Teachers have already started
putting work into the folios that will be sent home next week.
Bottles Needed Please start collecting small plastic bottles 250/300mls eg pop top bottles, cream bottles, that have screw top lids. Bottles will need
to be washed and dried and then given to the classroom teacher.
Pinocchio Production The students have been working hard on their parts for the production and are really looking forward to performing on either Thursday
or Friday night this week. We hope you enjoy the show!
Start of Day Just a reminder not to come into the building and rooms before the music goes at 8.50am. Teachers are busy preparing for lessons
and also may not be in the rooms.
Need To Chat? If you have something important to talk to your child’s teacher about, please make an appointment or see them after school unless
it is urgent. Trying to catch them in the morning when they are trying to settle the students and begin learning for the day can be
quite difficult. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.
Grade 1 News Portfolios We are getting ready to fill our portfolios for the end of term but are still missing some. Please check at home for these and return
to school as soon as possible.
Swimming We have swimming on in week 2 next term. Please look out for a purple swimming note, it was sent home last week.
Supplies We have lots of students who have used up their supplies of glue sticks. Please check with your child and send in more as required.
Junior School Teachers
Upper School News Grade 5 News Production This is it! After weeks of practice, Pinocchio will be performed on stage to an audience on Thursday and Friday nights. During the
day we will be heading to Ulumbarra Theatre for the dress rehearsals. Bus travel permission notes must be returned for your child to
attend the rehearsals.
Learning Portfolios These will go home next Monday so those that have not been returned, need to be before the end of the week.
Inquiry Projects The majority of students completed their inquiry this week. We have seen some well thought out presentations and lines of inquiry
based around changes to society.
Celebration Hour Apart from all the other times that we celebrate the great efforts made by students, you are invited to the classroom to celebrate your
child’s work on the last Friday of term between 12.30 and 1.30. Please return the form if you are attending for all, or part of the hour.
Homework Spelling was the only set homework this week due to the Production.
Grade 6 News Camp Just a reminder that our camp to Anglesea will be held on 15th-17th November. It is advisable for parents and families to start making
small and regular payments over this term to avoid a larger payment closer to the date of camp.
Homework This week’s homework is an ICT and spelling task, which will be handed out on Friday, and will be due back on Friday the 22nd of
September, the last Friday of term 3. If students do not hand in their homework, they will be kept in at lunchtime to complete the
task. We appreciate parents’ encouraging and supporting their child with the completion and submission of homework every week.
Big Day Out On Friday the 8th of September, grade six students who are attending Weroona College participated in a Big Day Out at the
highschool. Here, students were able to meet students from other schools who are also attending Weroona Secondary College. They
were invovled in fun team building activities and challenges involving weetbix and ballons. Students also saw a music performance
by a group of year 7 students, as well as the Weeroona College Rock Band.
Bupa Students who attend Bupa this term will be unable to attend tomorrow, due to whole school production practice taking place at
Ulumbarra theatre. Bupa will also not go ahead on the following Friday, 22nd of September, as it is the last day of term 3 and school
will finish at lunchtime.
Clothing Donation Box By Tannisha Murley and Holley Heenan
Do you have clothes at your house that you have hardly worn or that still have tags on them? Clothing waste is an environmental
issue because in order to make cotton you need water, and this water is taken from the Murray River. If this continues, Australia can
go through a huge drought. Donate your old clothes at the school office by Tuesday, 19th September and we will take them to the op
shop to be recycled.
Grade 6 Parents/Carers Is your child attending Weeroona College in 2018 for Year 7? If so, did you know that the Weeroona College uniform shop has
discounted uniforms for the months of September and October ONLY? The uniform shop (which is located at the College
near the tennis courts) is open for extended hours during September and October by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Appointments are a
necessity as there are many new students needing uniforms. Please call Janice at the uniform shop on 5444 0879 to secure your
appointment.
