Whole School Carols Night: Wednesday, 19th December
Our school Carols Night will be held on Wednesday, 19th

Gardens adjacent to the back of the school. The night will
commence with families bringing their own basket tea at
6.00pm followed at 6.30pm by class performances. It is
expected that the night will conclude before 8.00pm.
As all children at the school will be involved in this night,
we ask that parents keep this date free and we look forward
to your attendance.
The format of the Carols Night is as follows:
The event is alcohol-free. As the evening involves
children, we ask that parents, friends and relatives do not
bring alcohol.
Supervision: can parents please ensure that pre-school
children are not running around any performance or sitting
areas.
Whilst this event will not be within school grounds, we
request that this also be a smoke-free event.
School children are to be seated in their class groups in
front of the stage area so they are ready to go on for their
performance. They should not be sitting with their family.
Adults should display good audience behaviours by facing
towards the performers and limit their talk whilst performances
are taking place. Your support is appreciated. Please no pets.

REPEAT ITEMS
Assemblies for Term 4
We have continued with assemblies on a Friday afternoon
this term and we are seeking feedback from the community
to assist us in planning for 2019. We have certainly noticed
an increase in parent numbers at assemblies on a Friday
afternoon compared to Monday morning. The staff enjoy
having the crucial morning learning time available to teach
as the children are more attentive earlier in the day.
Anyone who would like to provide feedback can email me
Thanks to those who have already provided feedback, it is
greatly appreciated and most welcome.
Playground Supervision
Playground supervision is undertaken by teachers to cover
morning recess and lunch periods in addition to a brief time
before and after school. (8.40am – 9.00am and 3.30pm –
3.45pm).
Students are not supervised in the school grounds
before and after these times unless attending an
organised activity.
We have noticed that some students are arriving at school
as early as 7.45am! This means they are unsupervised for a
substantial length of time.
Before School Care is available from 7.00am and we encourage parents to utilise this service so that your child is being
supervised.
The morning music starts playing at 8.50am and students and parents are welcome to move into their classrooms to start getting
organised or speak to their child’s teacher.

Centrepay an option to manage school costs in 2019
What is Centrepay?
Centrepay is a free direct bill-paying service offered to customers receiving Centrelink payments. Through Centrepay you can choose
to pay bills by having a regular amount deducted from your payments and transferred electronically to an approved Centrepay
organisation.
Why use Centrepay?
Centrepay is voluntary. Customers who choose to use Centrepay benefit from its convenience and security knowing that their bills
are under control. Instead of having large bills every month or quarter, your bills are paid in manageable amounts from your payments,
making it easier for you to budget.
How do I set up Centrepay?
The school office is happy to assist and support eligible families to set up Centrepay or you can follow the steps below.
Step 1: sign in and access the main menu. Sign into myGov and select your Centrelink online account to access the main menu and
your homepage. ...
Step 2: add a new Centrepay deduction. ...
Step 3: choose a service provider. ...
Step 4: enter the details of your deduction. ...
Step 5: review and submit. ...
Step 6: sign out.

This might be a viable option to help families manage the school costs including camps as we know that the CSEF (Camps, Sports
Excursion Funds) of $125 generally covers the cost of Part B of the book pack (gymnastics, swimming, incursions and excursions)
but not the camps. Our Chaplain Ricky Cawley is also available to assist with this as he has had experience in supporting families to
set this up. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you here at WHPS.

Principal
PFG News Next PFG Meeting Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 12th December at approximately 9.05am in the staffroom.
All newcomers are welcome to attend any meeting! You may bring along younger siblings to our meetings as well. Come and have
morning tea with us, a chat and a laugh, and find out what we do around the school.
Thank you from P & F Group
Grade 3 News Home Reading
Please continue a regular home reading with your child. We encourage students to read for a least 4 days/nights at home and choose
reading material that is of interest to them.
Learning Portfolios
Please discuss work samples inside your child’s Learning Portfolio and return it back to school in preparation for Term 4 work
samples and reports.
Drink Bottles
Please make sure your child has a drink bottle with them at school to use during class time.
Grade 4 News Christmas concert Our school Christmas carols are fast approaching. We hope to see everyone join us to celebrate the end of school year and festive
season. If possible wear something Christmas related.
Peer transition – Transition preparation
This week students in grade 4 met with our grade 3’s to share information regarding becoming a grade 4 in 2019. The grade 5 students
also shared information and gave advice in order to be successful as a grade 5. Further transition days will follow later in the term.
Learning Portfolio – Return as soon as possible
Please ensure your child’s portfolio has been returned to school ready for new pieces to be added.
Class and Library Books – As our term comes to an end
Please search high and low for library books as the term comes to an end. As you can appreciate it take a lot of time to gather books
and get them ready for another school year.

Community News
State Team Selections
School Sport Victoria will once again be offering the opportunity for
gifted and talented students from your school community to register to
trial for school sport Team Vic teams in 2019.
Registrations open on Saturday 1 December, 2018 and remain open until
Friday 1 March, 2019 for Australian Football, Netball, Boys Basketball,
Girls Basketball, and Boys Football (Soccer).
These trials are for emerging athletes who have reached a certain
standard. They are a process for selecting a Team Vic State Team going
to School Sport Australia National Championships.
A minor change to the process for 2019 is: Girls Football (Soccer) will
not be required to go through stages of selection. All nominees will go
direct to State Trials. It is important to note that school principals have to endorse the
childrens’ registration forms and that only three registrations per
sport are allowed from each school.
