White Paper No. 34ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015

There are proposed changes to both ISO 9001 and 14001, due for reease in !01". #t present, these are at the

discussion stage, but the core of the changes are uni$e% to &ar% fro' those sho(n beo(. 

Implications to systems provided by SSS.

It is interesting to note that the ne( &ersions are catching up (ith the approach ta$en b% SSS for 'an% %ears. )or

e*a'pe, SSS s%ste's for suppier re&ie( are based on different categories (hich are based on their ris$ to %our

product.

Therefore, (ith the e*ception of reference changes to +product reaisation, etc., there (i be itte change to s%ste's

pro&ided b% SSS.

Si'iar%, the concept of integrating en&iron'enta actions into the (hoe business approach has been one (hich has

been at the heart of the INT#-T integrated action 'anage'ent s%ste' concept for !0 %ears.

The on% en&iron'enta change (i be that to consider ife c%ce aspects.

ISO 9001:2015

•  There is 'ore e'phasis on a +process approach.

• 

There is no( a reuire'ent to understand the needs and e*pectation of interested parties, (hich incudes end/

users as (e as the i''ediate cient.

•  There is no( a reuire'ent for the s%ste's to be ris$ based. This incudes the ris$s posed b% sub/contractors.

•  Pans sha address ris$s and opportunities.

•  The concept of +continua i'pro&e'ent has been repaced (ith ust +i'pro&e'ent.

•  There is 'ore of a reuire'ent for top/e&e 'anageria in&o&e'ent and eadership it (i no onger be

possibe to ust deegate the uait% function to the 2# anager and ine 'anagers.

•  The uait% poic% 'ust be a&aiabe to a interested parties, not ust those (ithin the organisation.

accountabe, (hen it (i be done b% and (hat actions and resources are necessar%.

There is 'ore e'phasis on the en&iron'enta aspects and i'pacts, (ith the ris$s the% pose. This incudes theeffects of e*terna en&iron'enta conditions to affect the organisation. 

•  Obecti&es sha be based on the significant i'pacts, ris$s and co'piance reuire'ents. 

•  #ctions sha be integrated into the organisations business processes. 

•  There is 'ore e'phasis on co''unication, both interna% and to interested parties. This doesnt go uite as

far as 5#S, but it approaches it.
