Like adventure? Go rafting

There is still time to join one of the most excitingorganizations onthe UMass Dartmouth campus.Come join the Outdoor Club every Wednesdaynight at 5:15 pm in the 007 room of the CampusCenter to learn how this spring the organizationhas scheduled a variety of exciting activities tosatisfy everyone's thirst for adventure.

Did you ever want to feel that rush ofadrenaline asyouzip down Maine's class IVwhitewater? What aboutliftingyourself through NewHampshiret beautiful hardwood forests? Ot ifvou want to stay closer to UMass Dartmouth,iruu. you ever wondered what it might be liketo navigate through a forest at night using onlythe light of the moon and head lamps? These arejust a few trips the club will take next month.

This spring the Outdoor Club will holdits largest trip, the annual, and much talkedabout white water rafting adventure. Open toall members, from April 30 through May 2, theorganization will travel to West Forks, Maine tohit class III to IV white water with the MagicFalls Rafting Company.

Although rafting is only open to members of

the Outdoor Club, anyone at Umass Dartmouthcan pay the generous $10 club membership feeand sign up for the trip. The cost of the trip is$70 per member and a $40 deposit is due uponthe initial sign up. At first this price may seemhefty but then you'll realize what this priceincludes.

All attendees will receive two nights ofcamping, rafting class III to IV rapids, wetsuitrental (not booties), a light breakfast Saturdaymorning, BBQ during or right after the raftingtrip, dinner Saturday night, a video presentationafter trip, and full use of facilities which includea pool, hot tub, volleyball, horseshoes, and floattubes.

When you think about it, it's not a bad way tospend a weekend away from campus.

But what if you're not friends with anyonewho plans to attend the trip? Coon believes thisis not a problem. 'At some point we are all newto this organization. Some of us join in the fall,while others find time to join throughout thespring. That is what makes this organizationunlike any other. We really take pride in beingable to accommodate new membersl'
