Long maceration periods, unfined and unfiltered, this is a wine-lovers 'orange' wine that brings the vineyard to the table in unfined and unfiltered glory. Delicious, ancient, and radically natural. But forget the facts and the notes: the best reason to enjoy this wine is the following quote from Ivan and Miha Batic: A complete path from must to wine is written in a grape. Gravel and graphite on the nose, some dark fruit, the tiniest amount of burnt earth too. Really lovely on the palate, well balanced, redolent of iron and blood, ripe fruit, and bright acidity. A great example of modern Chinon - nicely ripe and extracted, and still definitely of its place. Wilfrid Rousse farms his vineyards organically and allows natural ground cover on some plots, and plows others. Sadly, Marcel Lapierre pasted away last October from Melanoma. The NY Times wine writer, Eric Asimov noted Mr. Lapierre “played a leading role in rejuvenating the diminished reputation of “ Beaujolais. “Rather than these fruity, happy-go-lucky concoctions, Mr. Lapierre and his colleagues, Jean Foillard, Guy Breton and Jean-Paul Thévenet, produced wines of depth, nuance and purity that nonetheless retained the joyous nature of Beaujolais.” So in the spirit of joy that is Beaujolais and Marcel Lapierre, we want you to enjoy his legacy and contribution to the wine world.

It is well to remember that there are five reasons for drinking wine:

the arrival of a friend; one's present or future thirst;

the excellence of a wine; or any other reason.
