Brenton Whiting Dear Abby, This course looks to be quite the class. I chose this because in the times that I had available, this seemed to be the most interesting course offered. I’ve always liked looking at the future, so the content seemed right up my alley. I’ve done some writing in high school, not a large amount that I would be proud of, but a decent amount nonetheless. I have always loved righting stories, both for pleasure and for classes, but more serious writing has always been a weaker and less pleasurable pursuit. Writing fiction has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done with a pen and paper, right next to writing poetry and music. Even so, trying to intelligently present a cohesive idea, fictitious or factual, has always seemed a daunting task when first planning out writing. Speaking of planning, I believe that the planning stage of writing is my single greatest weakness, whilst my ability to improvise and think on my feet is, I believe, one of my greatest strengths. Writing papers has always seemed to be an interesting process. Peer review seems like it might be effective, but I find that many people choose to be too nice, or simply do not know what they are looking for in the first place. Brenton WhitingDear Abby,This course looks to be quite the class. I chose this because in the times that I had available, this seemed to be the most interesting course offered. Ive always liked looking at the future, so the content seemed right up my alley. Ive done some writing in high school, not a large amount that I would be proud of, but a decent amount nonetheless. I have always loved righting stories, both for pleasure and for classes, but more serious writing has always been a weaker and less pleasurable pursuit.Writing fiction has been one of the most rewarding things Ive done with a pen and paper, right next to writing poetry and music. Research and paper topics bring another element to factual writing. Choosing a topic is wonderful and exciting, but the research that follows that choice is t=not always what you originally expected. In this class, I aim to continue to improve my writing, and to come out with a better understanding of how we think about the future. Ive always had my own thoughts on the subject, but to spend time looking into the thoughts of many others is an even greater subject.

Sincerely,Brenton Whiting
