the countryside...

With many people feeling the pressure of the

pace of 21st century living - an escape to the

countryside is an attractive - and viable option -

with the increasing availability of new homes

which meet modern needs.

The advantages of buying a new home in a

rural location are numerous. The home itself will

benefit from low maintenance, energy efficiency

and modern day specifications whilst living in

the countryside offers seclusion and quiet

convenience.

Advances in road and rail networks, as

well as better public transport, allows us to live

in the relative peace and tranquillity of our

surroundings - while sourcing the benefits of

nearby towns, cities and workplaces, and the

range of amenities that come hand in hand with

them.

The village of Nassington, alongside nearby

Wansford, Apethorpe, Yarwell, Fotheringhay and

King’s Cliffe, in the Northamptonshire

countryside is one of many locations rich in

colours and history.

Village walks in beautiful surroundings, a

nearby river and a general feeling of well-being

in a picture postcard setting are just some of the

many reasons for choosing a place in the

country.

Nassington sits in one

of Northamptonshire’s

most idyllic rural

settings close to the

meandering River Nene

Page 5: whittington’s meadow nassingtonmedia.rightmove.co.uk/41k/40968/40968_Barton_DOC_00_0000.pdf · owned by King Canute. It is even thought that the tale of Dick Whittington was based

the village...

Nestled in the Northamptonshire countryside,

the village of Nassington is steeped in history -

from evidence of an ancient settlement to Anglo-

Saxon discoveries, and even a royal manor

owned by King Canute.

It is even thought that the tale of Dick

Whittington was based on a destitute youngster

- one Humphrey Bellamy - who stopped off in

the area on his way to make his fortune in

London. Villagers looked after him and when he

eventually became rich and famous he vowed to

return. He died locally and is buried in a

neighbouring church.

Nassington - with its three pubs including

The Black Horse dating from 1674, offers a

balance of traditional village life and a modern

community spirit.

For anyone wanting a taste of village life -

it comes in abundance in Nassington, where a

sense of community thrives and flourishes -

from the annual summer show, successful

village cricket team, active brass band,

locally-organised garden open days, traditional

village school and host of amenities - including

butchers, cake shop, post office and general

stores.

Nassington is also famous as the location

for The Prebendal Manor House. A popular

visitor attraction, dating back to 1230, it is the

oldest inhabited house in Northamptonshire -

and is a well-known venue for educational and

family fun events.

the location...

To offer the best of both worlds - Nassington is

ideally placed to home in on the benefits of the

many surrounding towns and cities, which offer

a wealth of recreational and leisure amenities.

With easy access to the A1 and the A605 -

historic Stamford, the market town of Oundle

and the bustling city of Peterborough are within

close reach. Stamford and Oundle markets offer

great shopping opportunities, alongside the all-

purpose Queensgate Shopping Centre in

Peterborough city centre and the new

Serpentine Green Shopping Centre located in

the Hampton township.

Barnwell Country Park and Peterborough’s

Nene Park (Ferry Meadows) provide numerous

outdoor pursuits - from gentle walks and strolls

around the countryside, to watersports and

other leisure activities.

For those who enjoy eating out and the

social side of life - The George Hotel in

Stamford and the Haycock Hotel in Wansford,

just off the A1 provide fine dining and special

occasion events.

Nassington is also perfectly positioned for

commuters accessing the A1 in most directions

- and also the A605 which leads to the A14 to

Northampton, Kettering and Corby. whi
