Southern Community Welfare is a community based, non profit charitable organisation providing counselling, support groups and community education. We have been operating out of Gymea Baptist Church since 1995. We seek to provide professional support to families and individuals in need with a focus on early intervention and harm prevention. We strive to serve our greater community through non-judgmental and holistic approaches. We endeavor to equip clients with the skills and tools necessary for improved communication, resiliency and emotion management. We aim to work with compassion and acceptance and to provide creative education and professional assistance to strengthen relationships and offer hope within our community. Who are we . . . Like the seasons ... life changes Friends come and go

We suffer the effects of illness

We grow and change

Seasons for Growth® has been developed to support children, young people and adults to effectively work through the change, loss and grief in their lives. The aim is to achieve resilience and new hope.

OverviewAges: We cater for children aged 6-15 years.

Groups Size:Groups consist of 4-7 children of similar ages.

Program Length:Groups run over 8 weeks.

Fee:The Fee for the program is $50 per child. Full fee is payable prior to commencement of the program.Fees are non refundable once the group starts. No family is turned away for fi nancial reasons. Subsidies available for families in fi nancial diffi culty.

Where: Sessions are held at Southern Community Welfare in the grounds of Gymea Baptist Church2-4 Tea Gardens Ave, Kirrawee NSW 2232.

Seasons for Growth® is a grief and loss peer support program. The program is educational in nature and does not provide counselling or therapy. Trained companions support children and young people through a process of insight and affirmation and provide a safe place for them to share and be heard.

Explore the skills needed to manage loss.

Understand that it is normal to experience and express a range of emotions around grief and loss.

Review present beliefs and plan for a realistic and hope filled future.

Develop a higher self esteem and integrated sense of self belief.

Build effective relationships with family, friends and others to support children and young people through grief and loss and throughout their life.

Program aims
