Protein source to replace Fish Meal

• Thai Union Feedmill has been conducting inhouse research to replace fishmeal since 2014.

• One of the protein sources recently brought to market uses “FeedKind”.

• Many other protein sources have also been trialed, as well as sourcing sustainable soy.

• For TFM, the ongoing focus on trials is for better growth performance as well asmanaging the cost of feed.

Fat / Lipid Sources

• Fish oil is one of raw materials that needs to be traceable and sustainable.

• For our feed business, we used fish oil extracted from fish waste / tuna by-product.

• However, in the future fish oil will be refined and used for human consumption.

• Our research direction is aimed to look for other oil sourcing.

• AlgaPrime is one of the products that we recently tested and still to be continued.

RECENTLY COMPLETED COMMERCIAL PILOT WITH THAI UNION FEATURING FISHMEAL FREE, FEEDKIND FED SHRIMP

• Thai Union produced approximately 10 tonnes of shrimpusing FeedKind to replace fishmeal

• Validated Calysta’s traceability technology using carbon andnitrogen ratios

• Calysta identified which shrimp were fed FeedKind from blinded samples

• Similar tests can be done on any species, guaranteeingprovenance and eliminating fraud

• Equivalent performance at the pond level – equivalent growth rates, feed efficiency, and survival

• Shrimp were indistinguishable from shrimp fed fishmeal based feeds with equivalent taste, texture, and color

COLLABORATING WITH MOWI AND NOFIMA TO VALIDATE COMMERCIAL USE IN ATLANTIC SALMON

• Trial growing salmon to harvest weight begun in April atMowi’s facility in Averøy with expected harvest February2020

• Testing 4%, 8%, and 12% inclusion levels, with 12% inclusion a fishmeal free formulation

• In addition to traditional feed performance metrics like FCR and growth rates, will monitor gut health, fillet quality, color, and yield
