Here at Granada, we love the ministry of Sub-Saharan Africa

Family Enrichment (SAFE) in Malawi. Their vision is that the

AIDS epidemic in Africa may be curbed through redeemed hearts,

renewed minds and changed behavior, and that individuals, com-

munities, cultures and government policies may be transformed

by God’s power and principles.

One of their most successful programs has been the Gogo Grand-

mothers. GOGO (meaning grandparent) Grandmothers is a

grandparent-to-grandparent project developed by SAFE which links grandparents

from developed countries to grandparents caring for orphans in developing

countries, thereby addressing one of the major outcomes the HIV/Aids epidemic

within a faith-based context.

Recently the Gogo’s ministry shared how our prayer and financial support (in

partnership with many other churches and individuals) has made it possible for

SAFE to conduct ministry in several different ways:

Leadership Change: After 10 years as the executive director Moria Chimombo

has retired. SAFE has been actively and intentionally looking for her replacement.

They have now hired Mr. Edward Makala to be their executive director. He has 28

years of experience including time with World Vision, many years as a CEO, and

experience at the senior management level. Be praying for Mr. Makala as he takes

on this role. Pray for wisdom and guidance.

WHY WAIT? CURRICULUM Cathy Chimombo teaches WHY WAIT? LIFE SKILLS

at the training center. It is a Bible -based life skills curriculum and a required Life

Skills orientation course for the University of Malawi. Teachers say the lessons are

really changing students’ behavior and this is happening in many schools all over

Malawi. This curriculum was developed by Dick Day and Josh McDowell.

SAFE LIFE YOUTH CLUBS in Kodanani One great thing that the youth club in

Kodanani is doing is building stoves for our GoGos. These stoves are much need-

ed and fuel efficient. The GoGos are able to cook and make meals for themselves

and their community. Eventually all 126

GoGos will have a stove of their own.

Thank you, Granada, for participating in donating for SCRUBBIES that Kondanani SAFE Youth Club are making for our village Gogo's.

We raised $400 for the Club whose building these stoves for each of our 126 Gogo's. WE DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Sermon Notes - June 24, 2018 - Dan Kamwesa, High School Pastor

Luke 18:1-8

The Persistent Widow and the

Unjust Judge “Healthy prayer necessitates frequent experiences of the common, earthy,

run-of-the-mill variety…To be spiritually fit to scale the Himalayas of the

spirit, we need regular exercise in the hills and valleys of ordinary life.” -

Richard Foster, Prayer

This week let your common activities (walking the dog, talking with neigh-

bors, working with colleagues, etc.) fuel your prayer life. Use these exam-

ples of prayer as you persistently seek intimacy with God.

Prayer of Adoration: Adoration is the spontaneous yearning of the heart

to worship, honor, magnify, and bless God. See Deut. 10:21; Ps. 106:1; Ps.

30:12; Ps. 146:1-2; Luke 10:21; Heb. 13:15; Rev. 5:11-12.

Prayer of Rest: When all around us is chaos and confusion, deep within

we know stability and serenity. See Matthew 11:28 and Romans 8:26-27.

Meditative Prayer: The truth being meditated upon passes from the

mouth into the mind and down into the heart, where through quiet reflec-

tion it produces in the person praying a loving, faith-filled response. See

Psalm 1:2.

Contemplative Prayer: This prayer immerses us into the silence of God.

Progress in intimacy with God means progress towards silence. Sit in si-

lence with God and listen. See Psalm 62:1; Matt 17:5.

Intercessory Prayer: This prayer moves us from our own needs to the

needs and concerns of others; it is selfless, self-giving prayer. See Romans

8:34; Heb. 7:25; John 16:24; Luke 18:1-8
