Gender?• We feel that our audience will be more male dominated do to the nature of

the opening and the fact that the protagonist himself is a male so that will therefore attract a dominantly male audience. There are also several dark connotations in the opening with reference to the protagonists outfit and the setting itself which could be more targeted to a male audience. It could also be related to films such as ‘A boy and his dog’ which generally attracts a more male based audience.

• However we like to think that we have set a broad audience, and also like to think the film would attract females too. Having a female villain in Katie helps to do this as she plays the role of the antagonist. We originally planned to have a male play this part but we thought that using Katie would help to broaden the target audience.

Age?We have set our main age range as between 12- early twenties. We have chosen this range for several reasons. Firstly our minimum of age of 12 is set due to the film being a certificate 12 so that seemed like an appropriate starting age. We set the other end of the spectrum to late twenties as we believe that horror films mainly attract teenagers and once people reach their twenties they tend to grow out of them. Of course though we hope to attract those of all ages and the range is by no means a fixed range.

Mindset?

We also had a particular mindset of people that we wanted to aim at. We were aiming to target those who are innovators and self-actualizers as we wanted to attract people who like to be a bit different and stand out from the crowd. We hope this is mirrored in our film as we like to think it is different in the sense that we have a male protagonist instead of a female one which is more typical for horror films. We also have a running order which is not traditional, one that starts at the end and then continues on with the rest of the story, much inspired by Quentin Tarentino’s ‘Pulp Fiction’.

Interests?Obviously we want someone who has an interest in horror films as that is the genre. We also want someone who shows an interest in media so they can appreciate all aspects of the film (e.g. the camera work) as a lot of time is put into these often ignored aspects of a film. These interests may be gathered from watching a lot of films or even through making films themselves so they can appreciate the effort behind the making and hidden things such as a pull focus shot.
