Jan has a Bronze Tier plan with Mobile Wireless. She visits the King of Prussia Mall and
while waiting for her friend at a coffee shop, tries to access the Mobile Wireless branded
Wi-Fi. Jan is redirected to a portal page where she’s offered a one-hour free Wi-Fi pass.
She accepts and enjoys carrier-grade Wi-Fi while at the mall. After her experience, Jan
checks out the Gold Tier plan and decides to upgrade.

How Policy Drives Monetization
1. Jan’s device detects the presence of an available Mobile Wireless SSID hosted on the NXT Wi-Fi network; she attempts to connect
2. Jan’s credentials are authenticated against the Mobile Wireless Home Subscriber Server using EAP-SIM authentication
3. Since Jan is a bronze subscriber, she can’t access NXT Wi-Fi; her policy triggers a redirection to an offer for a Wi-Fi pass for one hour — she activates the pass
4. Policy control meters the time for one hour of usage, and triggers a notification offer to upgrade to a Gold Tier plan for 50GB of Wi-Fi access; Jan accepts the offer and the new policy is applied to her plan
