Why are we
FAT??
First, here I am, Daniel Riou, running my first marathon. I am deeply passionnate about
health, so I asked myself:
Why are we fat?
Why are we fat?

Why are we fat?
It is surprising that we are fat because
we hear about health daily. How come are we still
fat?
Many people train hard and still can’t lose weight. Why?
Why is it so hard to bring people to be physically active?
Are they lazy?
I don’t think so…
I would rather say that trying to frighten people talking about cancer, cholesterol or weight management, as we are doing right now, might not
be the best solution.
To have the results we never had, we must do what we never
did.
We never really explained ourselves why we are fat,
maybe that is a new solution that will have new results? Here
is a little story
Here is Pat. He is a prehistoric man, a
hunter gatherer. Most of his days are
occupied finding food and eating it.
His life is hard because he never knows if he will find
something to eat in the next days. To survive longer, he has to make reserves of
energy and eat:
2011Fat food
Sweet food
And salty food
Eating such food is good for him because he can spare
some energy and make some reserves. Once he has a
caloric reserve, what should he do?
Spare it!
What will happen if we bring him to 2011?
What will happen if we continually expose him to publicity suggesting him:

Sweet food
And salty food?
And to spare energy in front of a movie?
Or in front of a video game?
Or in front of a computer screen?
Pat would look like this
What solutions are available?
?
Frighten him talking about BMI,
cancer, diabete, stroke,
hypertension?
I don’t think so. The new solution I think will help Pat is to…

2011Get him commited toward that objective

Plaisir?And most important, make him have fun!

So, pick up a clear objective, like running a 5k within 6 mont, get
inscribed into the event and outsmart your brain!
