Why do we like our schools?
Primary School No 51 in Lublin, Poland
September
1st September - we start school. First we go to the church for a special service. Next our home room teachers take us to the classrooms and we talk about
holidays. Finally we go home and we are sad because we start going
to school again.
October
16th October – it is a very important day in our school because on this day
John Paul II, our school patron, became a Pope. We find out new facts about
his life. At school this is a special performance on
this day.
November
In November we celebrate the Independence Day. It is a national holiday in Poland. In our school we sing patriotic songs.
In December we also prepare for Christmas. At school we have the Nativity Play.
We make Christmasdecorations and sing carols
February
February - we celebrate St. Valentine's Day. We send letters with love poems to our favourite girls. And we like this day very much because we also get
Valentine's cards
March
On 21st March we have the Health Day in our school. On this day we have sports activities, art and cooking competition. We enjoy that day very much.
April First - on 2nd April - we celebrate the anniversary of John Paul’s II
death.
Students take part in various competitions connected with this theme.
April
Next it is Easter time, so we
prepare Easter eggs and cards. During English lessons we find out how people
in England celebrate Easter.
May On May the 3rd we celebrate the day
of May's Constitution. We display our national flags. A day before at school
we sing patriotic songs like these ones in November. This day is also a national holiday.
In June we finish school. This is the end of our learning. The school year finishes with a special service in the church.
June
After that we go to school to get our certificates and thank the teachers. It is time when we say: ‘Good bye’ and we start our summer holidays.
