Why have you chosen this Genre? The reason that I have chosen Rock as my music magazines genre is because Rock has many sub genres which could target quite a lot of people to buy the magazine. Also, from the feedback that I got from my audience I saw that a few people liked Rock music and that is what tempted me into making a Rock magazine. A Rock music magazine get a niche market which will be better for me as it is my very first time producing a music magazine. For my first time producing a music magazine I would want to target a niche audience as then I can see if my magazine needs any improvements or not. Whereas if I targeted a mass audience and my magazine didn’t do too well, then my magazine would not be bought ever again as it was seen as being highly unpopular. In addition, having a niche market audience can mean that I can specifically look at the Rock genre in detail and put my all in creating good context for the genre. Creating a Rock magazine would be more efficient as people that I would like on my magazine front cover would get to wear their own clothes, as youths usually wear black and it is very on trend nowadays. I would also have to use less props, costume and makeup as in Rock it’s not brightly coloured makeup or fancy dress. All I would need would be mainly a guitar and dark lipstick/eyeliner (for a girl). Furthermore, I think that Bauer would produce my magazine as they have created many different

Furthermore, I think that Bauer would produce my magazine as they have created many different genres of magazines, as well as doing a Rock magazine previously. They will want to target all kinds of people and my music magazine will target a specific minority of the audience which can make a huge difference. Bauer can get a lot of popularity with creating a Rock music magazine. Bauer is the producer of the very popular magazine ‘Kerrang’. Bauer gets a lot of attention from Kerrang as it is one of a few magazines in the UK in which they target Rock music. I would like to produce a Rock music magazine as there aren’t many on the market, which would mean that not many people’s needs are being fulfilled. The magazine industries are leaving out a huge portion of their audience. By me creating a Rock music magazine I am trying to fulfil people wants of seeing more Rock in magazines. Rock music isn’t a mainstream music genre, the people that like this

genre are usually males aged 25+. However, I will want to target females as well while creating this Rock music magazine as females like Rock music too. In addition, creating a Rock magazine makes it much easier for me to construct codes and conventions. This is because the genre of Rock has very obvious codes and conventions such as: dark colours being used, they have a set theme; they have mastheads in which it tells the audience that it is a Rock magazine. E.g. Kerrang. It sounds like someone is playing the guitar.
