WHY SHOULD I JOIN A FRATERNITY? • Brotherhood: By joining a fraternity, you are joining a brotherhood. This commitment is lifelong and your fraternity brothers are men you can count on to unconditionally support, mentor and respect you. These men truly become your brothers. • Shared Social Experiences: As a part of a fraternity, you will gain a sense of social identity in your undergraduate years and share meaningful experiences with people from all walks of life. After you graduate, you will be able to utilize these crucial social skills in your professional and personal life. Networking & Leadership Opportunity: Fraternity life provides one of the strongest foundations for social interfacing with a network of peers. Many times, these networks prove the most beneficial when looking for internships, employment, recommendations or employees. In addition, joining a fraternity provides leadership opportunities unlike any other organization through national leadership conferences, alumni mentors and various chapter positions. For questions about the recruitment process or Greek life at MSU, contact Brian Carter, IFC Recruitment Chair, at 859-433-2782 or [email protected]. THREE EXPECTATIONS OF FRATERNITY LIFE • Moral Standard: As a member of a fraternity, you are held to a higher standard and are expected to behave responsibly, ethically and inclusively within society. • Academic Success: All fraternal organizations have a minimum academic GPA requirement every member must meet. Joining a fraternity includes an academic commitment. If that academic commitment is not met, there may be some sort of penalty or mandatory service in place to help the member meet the standard. • Financial Commitment: Members of the fraternity have a financial obligation required for membership. These dues go toward member insurance, cost of local chapter functions and dues to the fraternity’s national headquarters to maintain the chapter’s charter. ALPHA SIGMA PHI ASF Bio: With our vision to better the world through better men, Alpha Sig is the fraternity of choice here at Morehead State.
