Helio Motorized Bicycles has received numerous questions on the 2 stroke motor versus the 4 stroke. Why should you go with the 4 stroke Motor Bike? What are the differences in power, weight, dependability, etc?

First of all lets all be honest here; the 2 stroke is a better looking motor when you look at it. Mostly because it is smaller and adheres to the lines of the bike more thus, making it look more like a mini motorcycle. That’s great and everything but there are more important things at stake like dependability.

Moving on to the 4 stroke. We use Honda, Subaru and Hushing 4 stroke motors on all Helio bikes. The nature of the Four stroke Bike is more controlled as there are valves that control the inflow and outflow of the mixture/exhaust. The 4 stroke has more torque and is a lot more quiet.

There is a oil reservoir so you do not have to add oil to your gas which means you can pull up to a gas station and pay the $2.00 USD to fill up ( good for about 75 miles). 4 strokes don’t heat up and you can pretty much ride them forever.

The vibrations are less because the motor is more stable which makes for a more comfortable ride. Also we use an USA made gearbox to transfer power with a huge centrifugal(throttle and go) clutch to make your power train endure years of riding.

We at Helio are moving in the direction of 4 strokes only and will be no longer dealing with the 2 strokes at all. We will still provide parts but will not be producing any 2 stroke production bikes. Check out our new line of Honda and Subaru powered motor bikes! We will continue to hone in on the perfect setup!
