About usWe aim to make employee volunteering easy and accessible for businesses across the UK.

Employee volunteering is about employers encouraging their employees to give up their time and skills in order to make a difference in the community.

You can encourage your employees to volunteer their practical or professional skills to help make a big difference.

By working with us, you may find yourself helping small local charities, schools or community organisations in work time.

Volunteering is a great way to help your employees learn new skills, grow in confidence and develop teamwork. It contributes towards your corporate social responsibility (CSR), raises your business profile, and helps enhance your brand.

We’ve years of experience of helping companies across the UK to start, maintain and build employee volunteering. With a team of experienced Business Volunteers staff spread across the UK, we’re ready to work with you, in communities where you want to make an impact.

We guarantee you’ll have fun, get to know colleagues better, meet great local charities and walk away knowing you’ve made a real difference.

We’d love to hear from you. Give us a call, drop us an email or invite us to visit you. Together, we can change people and places.

Paul Corcoran – Managing Director, Business Volunteers.

How it works? We specialise in the management and delivery of employee volunteering team days.

We can offer you hugely rewarding one-day team challenges that make a difference to charities and communities all across the UK.

Your team could be decorating rooms for a charity that offers a safe place to stay for the homeless, or working alongside disabled adults on a gardening project.

You could help build play equipment for disadvantaged children, dredge a pond on a nature reserve for a wildlife charity, or care for animals at a rescue centre. The list of worthwhile causes is endless.

We guarantee you’ll have lots of fun, get to know your colleagues better and give something back to small charities doing great work in the community.

Our employee volunteering team days are designed specifically for companies fully committed to CSR, their people and the places in which they live and work.

We’ve a database of thousands of partner charities across the UK that’s always looking for help. Although finance is important, most of our charity partners really need people, time and skills.

This is where your team can help. We match your teams location, time and skills to a one day challenge that helps the charity and engages your employees.

With safety and enjoyment being our ultimate goal, we’re with you every step of the way to ensure that you and the charity get the maximum benefits from the day.

Many of the companies we have worked with have gone on to develop further partnerships with the charity as a result of employee volunteering.

What we do?You simply tell us the number of staff you wish to get involved, when you want to take part, and where you are based. We then source practical tasks or activities from our nationwide charity partners.

We’ll provide you with three different options to take a look at and choose from.

Once you’ve selected your challenge, we arrange everything. You simply relax in the knowledge that on the day you’re in for a safe and highly rewarding team experience.

What we’ll do for you >>

Before the day:• A pre-visit to assess the charity and its staff.

• Produce a safety risk assessment and arrange insurance.

• Full briefing documents for all staff taking part.

• Regular email and telephone support.

On the day:• A qualified member of our team on-site to meet and facilitate.

• All tools, equipment and materials needed for the task.

• Company t-shirts, photographs and social media updates.

• Catering - refreshments and lunch.

After the day:• The story of the day and images for your publications.

• A local press release for after the event.

• Evaluation and staff feedback report.

• Full debrief with charity and client.

Where and when?We work with a diverse range of business clients all across the UK - from train engineers to shoe designers, tunnel builders to sugar traders and gas technicians to call centres.

It’s a rapidly growing area for companies who understand the benefits of giving something back.

We arrange team days throughout the year, whatever the weather! You can volunteer as a team just the once or as many times as you wish - so if you’re a large employer or have staff and sites all across the UK, we can run days more regularly for everyone to get involved.

We’ll work with you to plan thoroughly. You’ll need to factor in time for us to research suitable charities and tasks, time for you to select your preferred choice, time to pre visit the charity, time to arrange materials and importantly for you, time to recruit your team and plan for the day away from the business. We advise many of our clients to allow 6 weeks to do this.

The majority of our volunteering team days take place during the week, with a typical 9.30am to 3.30pm day. However, we can look to do team days on a weekend if you desire and if charities can host your team.

Numbers taking part can vary, but for a quality experience, we advise companies to choose teams of 8-15 to take part. We’ll need numbers expected to take part in advance from you to best source suitable projects.

We’ll of course, be with you on the day to meet and greet, introduce you to the charity, set the challenge, take care of safety, organise lunch, take photographs and ensure everyone has a great time.

No matter how big or small a company you are, where you are, what you do or the size of your team, we’ll find

a charity that will really benefit.

Other services

You may already be one of the business leaders that offers employee volunteering. That’s fantastic - you’re seeing the rewards of your enterprise and vision.

However, as it grows, it can begin to take up more time and more staff resources to plan and maintain.

Ask yourself -

• Is it really working effectively?• Is everyone allowed the opportunity to get involved?• Are we measuring the value and impact?• Could it do with a relaunch or refresh?

If you answered yes to any of these, then we can help. We’ll assess what you do and offer a bespoke service that allows you to manage your business while we manage your volunteer programme.

Managed services:

Business Volunteers’ one-day training session is the complete guide to help you start your own employee volunteering scheme.

Delivered at your place of work, we’ll guide you through each of the steps you’ll need to consider and have in place in order to start.

It’s the one stop shop to bring colleagues together, share ideas, plan effectively, create excitement and help you on your way.

On completion, you’ll be in a far stronger position to create and manage a scheme that works best for you, your employees and the community.

Training:

You may understand the benefits of employee volunteering, but simply don’t have the time or resources to design and deliver a volunteering scheme.

This is where we can come in, offer our expertise and understand your business objectives.

We’ll talk to your staff, find out their skills and interests, source community partners, design policies and create lots of opportunities to volunteer.

Once you’re up and running, we can offer ongoing support and arrange new activities to keep your scheme fresh and appealing.
