    Position Title: Ambulance Paramedic Division: Regional Services

    Reports To: Station Officer Direct Reports: Nil

    Employment Conditions: Ambulance Victoria Enterprise Agreement 2009

    Primary Objective: Provide pre-hospital care and treatment for sick and injured people through attempting to stabilise and/or improve the patient condition inpreparation for and during transportation to hospital.

    Responsibility for Quality: To take responsibility for improving quality processes using continuous improvement philosophies and practices, therebyincreasing value to the customers and the organisation.

    Provide comprehensive ambulance patient care in accordance with AVs Operational Procedures, clinicalPractice Guidelines and clinical work instructions

    Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, relatives, health professionals, members of thepublic and other emergency services to ensure the best possible care for the patient is achieved

    Interact effectively as part of the ambulance crew within your own ambulance team, with other Ambulanceteams and with other emergency services to delivery of patient care is optimised

    Respond to calls in accordance with AV Operational Procedures and organisational response targets toensure patient needs are appropriately met

    Drive Service vehicles in a safe and expedient manner in accordance with AV policy and procedures

    Maintain all equipment and ensure vehicle is prepared, maintained and equipped in accordance with AVstandards

    Maintain open, professional and effective communication with the communications centre

    Assist the Station Officer and team members by undertaking duties to ensure the branch functionseffectively at all times. This includes participating in maintaining branch stocks, ensuring the vehicle is keptin a state of readiness and the branch is clean and tidy;

    Ensure all interaction with AV stakeholders including patients, their relatives and members of the public is ofthe highest professional standard to promote the professionalism and reputation of all AmbulanceParamedics and AV;

    Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained and protected at all times;

    Comply with all AV policies and procedures as well as legislative and legal requirements;

    Comply with AVs policies and procedures in regard to professional conduct and presentation.

    Selection Criteria

    Qualifications and experience

    Qualified Ambulance Paramedic qualifications or approved equivalent;

    Experience providing emergency response;

    Full Victorian Drivers License;

    Medical and physical fitness as determined by AV to safely undertake all the duties of ambulance work;

    Competent standard of patient emergency care and clinical knowledge to work as part of an emergency ambulance crew.
